**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I think my problem was just building everything to see what it did :D
Had another go and made loads of marines, pwned the computer.

Is there any kind of OcUK clan kinda thing? Do people play together on mumble, etc.?

I can jump on Mumble and explain anything you need to know, or you can add me on Battle.net. I'll PM you my email to add

huh =/ Won't let me, fail!

I just did my 5 placement matches for this season and i have not played since season 1, i won 4 and lost the last game and got placed in Plat . Pretty funny as i was a bronze leaguer in season 1, but back then i had no clue what i was doing.

Mine has gone the other way, was gold in season 1, stopped playing.. started up again a few games before the end of last season, was put in platinum which i was chuffed about... then like the next day there is a new season, loose my placement match and it puts me in silver.. and now im struggling to beat other people also in silver! :D

From my experience the first 5 placement matches were a load of rubbish in placing me in the correct league. Somehow I ended up in Platinum I think it was as I won 3 or 4 I games if I recall correctly. I ended up constantly loosing a lot of games to much better players for a while after that and getting moved down to Bronze I'm sure it was in the end. I've never really played RTS games before so how I managed to get place that high up in the ladder I don't know. There seems to be quite a lot weighing on the first 5 placement matches. Maybe it's been improved now though.

Once you've got a good number of games under your belt though, the matchmaking service does a really good job with skill matching. Don't take too much notice of the league you are in and just keep playing to improve.

On a seperate account just done by placement games as protoss and got plat lol. Only just looked at how to do 3gate expand on TL :D ezz

If you want to see how to climb the ladder check out OGSMC (top Korean player). Made a new EU account when he came over for the Home Story Cup this week. 5 placement matches into platinum. Won the next 19 games in a row and by then was sitting no. 1 in masters league! He was streaming while doing it which made it all the more entertaining.

Haha well i am in silver now, being placed in plat didn't last long lol. While it sucks to be demoted, at least i can win games now! :p

This is so true, i knew my placement was a bit high for me. and soon as i played my first few games i couldn't wait to get demoted, i was facing people in diamond etc :(. At least in silver i feel like i am playing people around the same skill level as me, at least that's what the loading screen tells me. :p

watch the day9 daily?
I agree^^

watch Day9TV on youtube. he does a newbie tuesday for new players. There are literally hours on hours of info for new players. I've watched 6-7 episodes, watched a few pros play and some practice and i can beat hard & very hard pretty easily now.

Remember the main thing at the start is to get a good economy pumping out army continuously. Forget how to fight at the start and what units do best against others.

Question: Can you back up a patched version of SC2 onto an external hard drive for easy re-installation later?

I've actually lost my boxed game and had to download everything again through battle.net recently and I'd rather not do it again!

MC is one of the best players in the world, I watched him do that the other day lol. He got up and left half the time and just A-moved.

Did you see that one zerg rage at him?

His youtube is easier to navigate for specific videos, but his main site is http://blip.tv/day9tv, which usually has all his vids up half a day quicker than youtube, as well as all nicely in order.

I'm a day9-oholic. I've only been watching him for a few months and I've already seen every daily he's done - I've even watched a load of his Funday Mondays and Newbie Tuesdays multiple times. Simultaneously the most entertaining and the most informative show about SC2 - I was shocked to see how low his viewing figures are in comparison to people like Husky.

HomeStory Cup has been amazing so far. It's a good change from all the super serious tournaments. I think all the players are really enjoying it as well as the viewers.
