There are 'original' games out there, but they will always be swamped by more main stream titles. Microsoft's aquisition of Lionhead and, to a lesser extent, Rare is a good sign. Lionhead have never been massively sucessful, and I can't say I like any of their games, but at least they have a go at being original
I don't particularly thing Nintendo create that many 'original' games either. I love some of the games they do, and I hope the Wii motion sensor doodah is as cool as it looks, but they hardly create new genres every week
As long as games aren't lazy, and they have some kind of originality in characters, settings or storylines then I'm quite happy.. I don't want or need a deluge of games that try to redefine gaming

The control method is probably a bit different to whats been seen before so you have to give Nintendo credit for that, but the actual games still look like the same old stuff, so what happens when the novelty wears off? Anyway I hope I'm proved wrong and the Wii does end up more than a novelty. I guess the low price it will retail for will stand in its favour.
