Other hobbies?

Ok serious answer then. I love tinkering on motorcycles, and am currently on-a-bit-off-a-bit teaching myself Fusion 360 so I can level up my 3D printing.

Scale modelling is mine.

With a long term interest in aviation and military subjects, it seemed the way to go.

It encompasses the hobby in collecting, research/history, new techniques, being a main part of a modelling club, going to exhibitions/model shows etc.

Aggressive inline skating, ramps, rails, transitions and mainly not trying to snap a limb off, I also enjoy playing poker fairly seriously and watching a hell of a lot of boxing.

Carp Fishing
Gaming (CS/WoW)
Home Improvements

^ unfortunately the above have taken a massive backseat since having children due to time constraints and juggling logistics between the 3. Fishing whole weekends at the lake with beer was bliss.

To this end I’ve picked up Pokemon TCG collecting again and have a steam deck to play the latest Powerwash Simulator DLC’s, it’s scratching the itch for now!

I loves me some DIY - you wouldn't know it from some of the end results but I'm enthusiastic about having a go and that's all that counts.

I'm also mega addicted to football, and all live sport really.

I'm a bit of a serial hobbyist, so the ones that have stuck/currently (active):
* Playing the guitar - I've been playing since school, had a break to play drums but now back. I still have my 28 y/o strat but the neck is too small.
* Design and building guitars from scratch (built/play the solid body, and now building acoustic archtop - both are 7 strings with wider/deeper necks and longer scale lengths)
* Design and build tube amps / electronics - built my own guitar amp from scratch, also designed and built some audio kit and digital kit.
* koi pond (designed and built - all 14,000 litres)
* walking last one was 15 miles and that helps keep a little fitness
* snorkelling - on vacation only, but I have an ok mask, Cressi snorkel fins etc. Can easily spend hours in the water :D watching the reef life like octopus etc. I'm tempted to get a nicer mask, possibly a scubapro mask, and Avanti fins in future.

* DIY - this is a love-hate relationship between dream and reality. The pond almost broke me mentally/physically and so now I limit what I can and can't do. I've laid paths, replaced fence posts etc, fitted shelves, shower with mixer, new bathroom flooring etc.

* sea fishing - this has taken a bit of a hiatus given a falling out with the mate that I used to go with (he divorced his mrs who happens to be the wife's best chum and moved away). Also the wife's dad passed away during covid and I used todo shore fishing with him. I still want to get out on a boat at some point once I'm back into employment and the fuel prices have gone back to normal..

Past
* drums
* astrophotography - not great for working and spending the night awake!
* mountain biking - this I should, I now live near the areas I used to mountain bike 20+ miles on a Sunday.
* kick boxing - got to the inter-club sparring stage, didn't want a cracked rib to stop me from working as a self employed contractor.
* hifi and repairing my kit.
* oil painting..

Cooking
Painting/drawing-But i am very bad at it, but its fun so meh.
Reading/researching various things that take my interest

Lots of other bits and pieces, our house is filled with different items from different hobbies. :)

Most of my hobbies are fitness related;

Running
Hiking
Gym

I’ve been thinking about trying some woodworking classes recently as it’s something I’ve always thought would be a great skill to learn on top of being a fun hobby

it seems I've started collecting knee replacements in the last few years, but out of that I enjoy tinkering with scripting, or if it's sunny then exploring cycling or walking.

For goodness sake :(

This is why we tell people not to use postimage.

Specialty Coffee is the main one, as in finding places that serve said coffee, but not just Coffee shops. A lot Artisan Bakeries will serve a good specialty coffee to go with your Artisan pastry cake or sweet treat. Its got to the stage where I don't have to go far these days, in the past it was a journey to London.
Also making specialty coffee at Home. I try to learn all the time, on occasion buy coffee making equipment that can improve my own coffee making. This week I bought a portafilter dosing funnel & a distribution tool. Coffee waste is now minimal and I'm getting better espresso.
I also look for deals on artisan coffee beans too and specialty coffee places around the country, I keep a google map of said places so I can go and have a decent coffee if I happen to be there.
This Sunday will be my 11th trip to the London Coffee Festival.

Other minor hobbies are watching sport, This time of year is Baseball. PC's is another (hence my presence on here for 18 years :D) Home Cinema was a former hobby due to early starts with my job and doing volunteer work at weekends (With my elderly parents), I still have the hardware though.

Slot cars have been a childhood hobby that’s stayed with me. :) I enjoy collecting vintage pieces and restoring old cars, track, and accessories. I keep meaning to start a thread in the OCUK hobbies subforum so I can talk to myself. :D

Doodling has always been a passion. I wanted to be a professional illustrator, but life took a different path, so I keep it as a hobby. I love urban sketching, cartoons, motorsport, and car illustrations. Recently, I invested in a Wacom Cintiq 24, and I’m loving it.

I’m also partial to a bit of retro gaming.

I have always had a passion for cars and engines. Been tinkering since my early 20's to the point I could easily be a mechanic now if I wanted to.

I love watching my football and posting nonsense in the football stadium sub section.

I also started flying as a hobby in November 2024 and got my PPL last August although I will be making a career of it. Did my first ATPL (commercial theory) exams last week and have my EASA ATPL exams next Monday in Bristol. I am also in communication with a flying school in Europe who have direct links to the airlines. I hope to start that about this time next year.

This was a horrible photo taken by myself two weeks ago over Coningsby. There was a Typhoon (The small red dot on the image) below me doing circuits whilst I was above at 2500ft. People would pay good money for that view.
