My Passport expired just after my birthday a few months back and it's just come through. Next Expiry 2018 !!

SO let's get this right, I have to pay £74 to be reminded that I'm 50 when it next expires.!

I dont think its bad value for money, its less than £10 a year and lets you go all over the world pritty much hassel free.

Unless you have to replace one just two years after having a new one because they are badly made and the ink ran because you spent two months in a hot country (India)

Happened to me and they wouldn't replace it for free.

To me, it's just seems like another way of the goverment to charge you for something.
I reckon they are using this as some form of way to pay for all the added security etc, we now have.
I wonder how much they are in other countries??

Personally I think all 6 month old babys look pretty much the same so I don't understand this.
Also, how do you get a passport photo for a baby?

What's the actual point of the chip in the new passports? I've only ever seen it used once since I got a passport with the thing in it.

It has the details on the back page in electronic format and they can be scanned as you walk past thus speeding up check-in or some crap like that.

DO NOT put the passport near a microwave...

Don't know when yours was made and where in India you were but after 6 months in India mine lasted fine.
