Ouija boards

I did it when I was younger with my cousins and they were never the same again. 2 of them have died (1 suicide and 1 RTA) and the other is in a mental hospital. I guess I'm next

Even I've got wild ouija board stories from when I was young but I now realise it was all made up.

We did one in an empty house up the Villas. According to legend all the windows shattered at the same time. The reality is this, Sean Rowe (now deceased) threw a brick through one window and everyone scattered.

Don't really believe in all that stuff, but I won't tamper with the occult on the off chance that I'm meddling with something I shouldn't.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is it about a ouija board that makes the spirits want to communicate with us? Do they float around saying "Dude, I'm totally gonna freak that guy out by typing random messages on his keyboard" ... "No man, remember we're only allowed to use those ouija boards"

And if it's the efforts on the part of the users, does that mean we could be playing Scrabble with those who've departed, if only we would try and include them?

These threads are really useful for profiling whose opinions to take seriously or not in the future. :)

I don't need to take note, I just consult my magic 8-ball.

LoL that reminds me... I once played a prank on my mate's mum using VNC pretending to be a spirit. He had the phone on so I could hear what she was saying... priceless!

If that's true then why do people bother doing it in the first place?

Whether you believe in or not, getting involved with the occult has had negative consequences for many people.

its got nothing to do with the occult - as said it is a childrens board game and always was until it was in a horror film in the 70's and now all of a sudden people are freaked out by it. people are stupid.

If ghosts aren't real why does every single human culture believe in ghosts, even cultures completely isolated from the rest of the world? Because ghosts are real.

Well you've convinced me, with such irrefutable evidence as you've presented there I wonder how anyone could ever doubt it.

My Experience

I used one with a friend of mine. I didn't exactly know what it was i was really young. Heard a few ghost stories at school and thought it would be a laugh.

So we used it, and as expected, nothing moved. As we was about to give up and go play football, the upstairs airing cupboard door slammed shut. Now this door had thick carpet underneath it and you had to drag it shut by hand with force, it couldn't swing, it was also a summers morning with no wind. The only way i can describe what happened next was an overload of evil around me, i started to cry and my mate ran away.

Over the years after we used it, the whole family would wake up with the "did you hear that?" We would often all appear from our room onto the landing and ask who is playing that music, or who was banging downstairs? I had a girlfriend stay over once and she told me the TV was left on downstairs as she heard talking in the night, but no TV was on. Just loads of things like that happen ever since we used it.

The main thing that scared me was when i used to be up on the PC downstairs all night. Headphones in, gaming away. I used to see a figure from the corner of my eye walk down the stairs, across the living room and behind me into the kitchen. I used to be convinced it was my brothers coming down for a drink, but when i used to look behind me, nothing! I just used to think i was tired so went to bed. Then one night my dog shot up in his basket, ran to me shaking like a leaf and pressed his body against me, his head fixed to the top of the stairs then moved all the way down, like he was following someone walking down, across the living room, right up to us. I will be man enough to say i have never felt so scared in my life when my dog also reacted to the same thing.

I still don't "fully" believe in ghosts but after all the events that happened after i used that board, i'm certainly open minded now.

The funny thing was, a week after we destroyed the board, the first time me and my friend met up again we went to the library. We opened a book on ouji boards as the event interested us, and out fell a piece of paper saying "play me again".

Gods honest truth on my parents life the above happened

Strange story, but stranger still is the fact you attribute every strange thing that happened to you since doing it to the ouija board session.

Well, you can't throw that into this thread without elaborating further!?

Because when you're younger people are shouting out things and the imagination runs wild
eg "Oh my God did you see that in the corner of the room?"
"Yes I did "

Actually that should be when I was younger because I wouldn't be influenced but a lot of adults still would.

It's a children's game. People's minds are suggestible, children's minds doubly so. You set one of these things up, get a good spooky atmosphere going, and people's imaginations run wild. Then, anything bad that happens in the following weeks / months / even years gets falsely attributed to the oija board. That's why people have strange stories about them.
