Our bin men are on strike

Binmen are lazy ******* these days as it is, they do very little compared to what they used to do, so have no good reason to strike.
lol

Back in the day they used to lift the bins, but had far smaller rounds to do each shift and more people to do it. I remember the bin crew used to be something like 5 or 6 people, these days it's 3 and the two who are loading the bins are on the move as much if not more than they used to.
The only thing that has changes is that they now hook the bin on the lift then go and get the next couple of bins whilst it's operating rather than lifting it in manually (and spilling a load).

Don't expect any solutions just putting it out there, I wonder I many others or taking industrial action around the country, do we think things are beginning to collapse?
Should they get the army in?

Sunak and the Tories are obviously not up to running the country. We need tough actions fast.
Lol your council is labour run

Now it is, the poor soles have only just got their feet under the table.

I actually don't particularly blame the council, I make the unresearched assumption that they waste money because of what central government tells them to do. Which in itself is a legacy accumulated over many years.
In fact I don't blame the bin men for striking, I think the country is an unfunded mess with an increasing cost of living.
I also don't think the labour party would achieve anything, when was the last time the country was run with any semblance of competence?

Stop watching morning telly.

When we had the Beast from the East 5 years ago, binmen didn’t do the rounds. Yet the neighbouring council, about 25 times larger in size, with parts with remote villages, bin collection went ahead.

@Slam62 do you live in Blaby District Council? The binmen are on strike

My council let us to have flattened cardboard by the side of our recycling bin. My parents had two flattened cardboard boxes by their bin. Didn’t get picked up as mum slipped the smaller one inside the other! Everyone puts things inside cardboard boxes inside their bins!

Ours are fine. They do love to just chuck the empty bin anywhere within about 15m of the house once they are done though.
Yeah your not wrong, most of the time its in the middle of the drive so I have to get out to move the bin then reverse in, sometimes I think they are trolling me.

Only problem I've ever had was with newcastle City Council. They issued one of those in-bin tray things for glass. Then refused to empty it if it wasn't in the bin. When I challenged them they claimed it was on health and safety grounds.
Asked them to see their risk assessments stating it was dangerous for an able bodied man to bend over and pick something up weighing less than 5kg. They got rather upset as it turns out they didn't have one. Instead they directed me to their h&s manager who tried to claim it was a legislative requirement, but didn't know what legislation. I pointed out I wasn't familiar with any legislation and as it happened I'm more highly qualified from an hse point of view than him.

They collected it from the next day onwards.
