Thanks dude, got my initial + surname @outlook.com.. Not quite as good as my [email protected] but it'll do

xxxxxx,
Someone recently tried to use an application to sign in to your Google Account, [email protected]. We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt:
Tuesday, 31 July 2012 20:36:06 GMT
IP Address: 65.55.41.7 (hotmail.com)
Location: United States
If you do not recognise this sign-in attempt, someone else might be trying to access your account. You should sign in to your account and reset your password immediately. Find out how at http://support.google.com/accounts?p=reset_pw
If this was you and you want to give this application access to your account, complete the troubleshooting steps listed at http://support.google.com/mail?p=client_login
Sincerely,
The Google Accounts Team
Can this, as yet, allow you to use an email client like Windows live mail desktop and connect with that...? I can't find the POP or IMAP server or port settings so would they be added in time...?
It uses exchange active sync so set it up as if it is an exchange account with a server entry of "m.hotmail.com". Works well with Outlook 2013 without having to use the "outlook connector" old hotmail account used to have to use.Can this, as yet, allow you to use an email client like Windows live mail desktop and connect with that...? Great, I managed to do it, snapped myself up an original.
If you don't get the option to change your @hotmail or @live to @outlook then click on the "Get to know what's new in Outlook" email and click on "Get new ID".
All your emails from Hotmail or Live will go to the new Outlook address, but you will not be able to login to your old one after this and you should update all websites which use your old one.
Very happy, thanks for the thread Athanor.
So I've managed to bag my [email protected] , if I 'get new id' will itredirect any mails sent to my old address?
with this, for example my gfs hotmail is zoe****@msn.com. when it asks her to change does it have to be zoe****@outlook.com or can she covert it to [email protected]?
Service looks great but another name change? We've been through this before with hotmail.com/.co.uk msn.com live.com. So how many more services/times is this going to happen? I like hotmail. I've used it for nigh on 12 years and the list of things I've used it for is endless which is going to make this even more of a pain in the behind.
That and their 'are you a robot' schtick doesn't work on iPads. I will use outlook but are they going to change it again when something else comes out?
