Outrageous price increase!!!

It really is ridiculous how much chocolate, crisps and bottles and cans of drink have gone up over the past 10 to 15 years.

15 years ago I'm pretty sure a can remember the following -

Can of drink - 50p
500ml bottle of drink - 65p
chocolate bar/ crisps - 30p

If there was solid inflation of 3% over those 15 years, we should expect to be being charged approximately -

Can of drink - 75p
500ml bottle of drink - 98p
chocolate bar/ crisps - 45p

Not sure exaclty what the typical rates are exactly now as everyone charges random prices, but I think its approximately -

Can of drink - 90p
500ml bottle of drink - £1.20
chocolate bar/ crisps - 80p

Well I've had enough.....I say we march on Parliament and table these findings! :p

I remember when they were 10p.

My school bus used to cost 10p each way, and we'd often decide to walk and buy two freddo bars instead.

Oh those were the days.

You lot are a bunch of youngsters!

When I were a lad, we used to have the following:

can of fancy drink (coke, schweppes, lilt, etc) - 33p
Can of cheap drink - 20p
one of those mini cans that you could finish in 1 mouthful - 15p
Normal crisps (golden wonder, walkers) - 20p
Cheap crisps (transformasnack!!) - 10p
Mars bar, marathon, etc. - 30p

I remember when walkers were 27p, irn bru was 16p for a can & a 2ltr bottle of Coke was £1.05, this was only about 9 years ago. Now everything is 200-300% more! (2ltr being like £2.20 now? with a push for 1.75ltr bottles at 'normal prices')

Edit; I saw a Wispa in tesco for 88p yesterday...

I remember when a Mars bar was 6 pence and that is 2 and a half p in todays money. Not that I had to pay as my gran and granddad worked in the Mars factory in Slough and I used to gets loads of them and other goodies for free. Oh and Levis 501's were a fiver.

I'm guessing you live up north, because the last time a can of anything was 16p was probably in 1916.

Pretty sure coke was 45P - 50P a can, all big chocolate bars were 40P - 50P, and Freddos, Chomps and Fudge sticks were 10P when I was at school.

Crisps typically had about 5 grams more per pack and were in the same sized packet, and cheaper as well. I think Mars bars were a few grams heavier as well.

This would only be 5 or 6 years ago. :(

It's not only the price, these things are getting smaller!

The increase in packet size and the reduction of contents is definitely on the climb. Wagon wheels used to be massive, hence the name, but now they're more like office chair wheels. Cost more too.
