Over boarding over boarded ceiling

Skiming over patches will always leave a mark over time (plaster sagging in weak spots), so over boarding makes skimming easier.

Personally after overboarding three rooms and giving them time to settle (3years) I wish I had pulled them down and been able to level the boards properly as there are areas that have dropped

What about skimming an entire ceiling?

A ceiling in the bedroom has been skimmed all over without boarding and looks fine (allbeit only 2-3 months ago)

I'm just trying to check over-boarding isn't going to cause any serious issues, why have levels dropped on your boarded areas? surely if it's well fixed there shouldn't be much shifting?

We over boarded Lath and plaster and that can shift overtime, boards have probably moved as not all the screws went into joists.
