Overcclocking n00b. Help please.

What divider have you got the ram on just now? I'd stick it on 133 and then try increasing by 10 each time as dreadi says, but i would use Prime95 to test each time (i've not much experience with superPI). I'd keep increasing till prime95 fails within the first couple of minutes, then pull back a few htt and leave prime running for 8-12 hours. If it doesnt fail in this period then you have a fairly stable overclock.

my pc is alive again now, i had to take the ram out a few and put it back in clear the cmos and now its at 2.7ghz and is running sp2004 at the mo to check stability as i partially **** myself

the divider is on the pic of your ram page upto DDR Ram clock : DDR400, put it down to ddr 200 and the HTT on mine is on the cpu configuration page but i dunno bout your so have a look around

It's different for different boards. The option for setting the divider 'should' be under Frequency/Voltage control in the Bios. Look for something that allows you to change the memory clock index value, it should have options for 100, 133, 166, 200, this is the divider i mention.
the HTT is the cpu frequency that will also be displayed in Mhz ie 200.

Also look for an option that will allow you to have a multiplier between x 1 and x 5 (if i remember right), on my m/board its in the Advanced chipset features section of the bios and set it to x 3.

I'm 'trying' to put into words that you'll understand as i remember what it was like trying to follow directions given on these forums a few months ago when i first started, most of it went over my head ;)
