overclock via bios. what have i done wrong

ummm im not confident in anything pc yet lol...

what can go wrong if i update lol is it a case of hiting a button and boom its updated

ok cool cant go wrong with step by step.. i will give it a go in morning and post up results. i take it the clock will be pretty similar as you talked through earlier

again thanks for the help..

one a successful bios update, you'll have to restart the process again.
But you'll have the all important apm option!!!

i'm not far away from you if things go blrrghh,

just looking at your screenshots, I've made a mistake
You use hwinfo and overdrive where as I use hwmonitor, and cpu-z
The llc when set to extreme did actually increase the voltage to 1.464v, but overdrive displayed a 1.2375 v-core.
LLC extreme adds a .1v towards the v-core set in the bios.
So for example you'd enter 1.275v and with llc to extreme you'd end up with 1.375v

Either way it's best to get that latest bios on, disable apm and then get this 6100 where it needs to be

ok i will see what happens might come of battlefield in a min give it a go getting killed to much isnt that much fun lol

just checked on the update of my new gpu and its been loaded on the southampton van thismorning so i should have that. then im going to install and update my mobo as you suggested above.

the reason i say this is that i can take my gtx 660 back to the well known computer shop in porchester by us and get 140 quid credit.... now im thinking maybe new case bigger more air... maybe a closed loop cpu cooler or even a new mobo to help me keep the clocked 6100 cool as poss....

Lol porchester shop !! :)

It's upto you but my advice is this, that motherboard will take an fx61**,fx63** upto 1.50v, or an fx81** fx83** to 1.45v.
Your fx6100 might be a great clocker as we've yet to push it, but one thing which will hold you back is the cpu cooling using that tx3 when you start to use over 1.425v. Don't be tempted by the h60 they are no better than a half decent air cooler.

Upto you, your motherboard is fine for the moment overclock what you have. Like people have suggested, let's see what we can get out of clocking with everything you have before spending money and not gaining any fps for it, and that money could then be put towards (I hate to say it) an Intel+motherboard.

first port of call is trying what you have said.. i have just taken delivery and pluged in my new gpu and quickly realised my case is far to small so i need to address that issue also... cables everywere with nowere to hide.

with regards to intel is it really something to consider?????
