Overclocked Bundles NEED HELP!!!!!

That i5 is a true quad core. Compared to the i7 950 it is also uses a newer architecture that is faster clock-for-clock, uses less power, overclocks better and the CPU is clocked higher in the OCUk bundle (4.6GHz vs 4.00GHz).

This graph compares the two CPUs at stock speeds in a range of tasks.

The i7 chips have hyperthreading enabled (produces two threads per core), however this is only beneficial in applications that are heavily multi-threaded (ie not games).

One last question from me if I may,

When I buy and get it all working will I need to reinstall Wondows Vista, I was also thinking about buying Windows 7 but at a later date, tryin to save money.

the i5 6** was a dual core the i5 7** was quads

the new generation of i5's are much stronger than the old generation due to better clock for clock ratios

buy the one andi suggests you will not go wrong with a setup like that .

EDIT : damn you andi beat me :P

This makes sense I suppose, I5 it is, I'm a sucker for the higher number 5/7, in time when games take advantage of the quad core then I7 would be better??

your getting things muddled

the i5 is a true quad core just like the i7 just without hyper threading and for gaming that makes hardly the difference

Yes you will need to re-install vista. Just make sure it is a full retail licence, as OEM licences are tied to the motherboard.

No - not really. The i5 2500K (even without hyperthreading) is already faster than the i7 950 in heavily multi-threaded applications due to it's better architecture and higher clockspeed.

So my Final spec will be:

- CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.60GHz Sandybridge CPU
- Motherboard: Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Akasa Venom CPU Cooler
- Nvidia Geforce GTX 470 1280MB
- Samsung 2233 3D monitor with Nvidia 3D vision,
- Alienware Predator case "have not had the heart to replace it yet"

That should last me ohhh about 6months lol

The real need for 3D ?

its nice but i don't think its worth its price tag just yet

EDIT : PSU what one do you currently have ?

I've already brought it had it for about a year the games do look good some better than others but it def add's a little something to the gameplay.

I always tend to do an upgrade every year around this time, but the local shop I would normally go down to has closed down, but on the bright side if I do it myself I'll save a few £££

While I've got you all here, I'm also in the market for a business/personal laptop
