Overclockers MUCH CHEAPER Than **ahem**

Well i love overclockers and i buy most of my computer hardware for here. Good prices and nice service and a wide selection of products. The only thing i don't like about overclockers is that they don't ship and bulky stuff outside U.K which is a pain since i am forced to spend my cash on other stores for thing like PSU's, cases, speakers and monitors :P
Would be nice of give the customer the option to select a different transporation service for bulky stuff for customers outside the U.K and i am pretty sure there quite a lot of them :)

As someone who obviously has experience of international carriers - who would you choose to deliver your stuff if you had a free choice?

I've had items delivered by a lot of different companies and have not had a serious problem till now, and thats with City Link. At the moment I am having the problem of them claiming they delivered a package, it being left with a neighbour. The problem is I was in and the buzzer never rang, no card was left, the name of the 'neighbour' is one I have never heard of, none of the people in my building know of any package, or anyone with the name that the package was sign for with.

When I contacted them the driver had vanished for the weekend (I rang at 4pm), and when they were able to contact him the flat he pointed me to is one which has been empty for at least two months. When I tried to contact them after that I could not get anyone to pick up the phone despite almost three hours of trying.

So my package which I should have recieved almost a week and a half ago is still missing, and with no indication on when I might get it.

They need to offer free postage over £50, god knows how much business they are probably losing now because they dont offer this.

Agreed. my last order came to £479.... the one before that was £900. EVERYWHERE else i have shopped, its free p&p on orders £150 and over... dont get me started on the bfg 8800gtx i bought on its first day release (£520 with postage.)

The other week I needed some cheap components, I filled up my basket with the same gear on a few sites. The one I finally ordered cost me £52inc, but the ocuk basket cost me £80 for exactly the same components.

I think this is crucial for OCUK, frankly.

Why not buy 1 or 2 vans and take on a few people and try their own distrebution service. Not the whole country of course. Start small and build up.Their vans could have a oc logo on website ect address. The vans dont have to be new ect. Or just try 1 van 1 person and see if a profit could be made from the new venture .Speckulate to accumulate ?

no need... everyone knows of places that offer free 5 day delivery or delivery over £50, OcUK just choose not to, and are loosing out beacuse of if.

Its fairly simple, OcUK have claimed to be cheapest on both ATI and nVidia graphics cards, a claim that is wiped out the moment they stick £6 postage on compaired to free from other competitors.

And I dont belive for a minuite the "it will mean massive losses for us" claims, as pleanty of other places are using this charging method fine!

I thought as much...it just doesn't pay to stay loyal to overclockers and it's hard to acknowledge any flaw on their part on these forums without fear of reprisal. I think they've got a fair few members brainwashed, and going against the grain and trying to help OcUK improve itself seems like risky business when you don't have freedom of speech on the forums.

freedom of speech?, should that include running around saying hail hitler and shouting racist comments at everyone? obviously you cant talk about other pc related shops, thats just like once .. heres a story...

i go into blockbuster.. want to rent a film, take it to counter, i dont really want to talk to the guy, just pay and get the fk out. but he kept talking.. turns out that he was telling me prime time is better.. and would not give up.. ? now if people mention X is better than overclockers that thats not right..

also overclockers is basically the cheapest website in uk for most things as far as i can see. obviously certain little things like DVD's your not going to order by themselves and you would pop down to the shop etc etc... im bored of this convo its late..

pps: i just did a search on nvidia cards and ocuk seems to be the cheapest, apart from second hand, i dont see how 6 pound postage makes ocuk out of the top place...

ps: idea on the free postage.. possibily customers with a total combined spending of over i dont know say 1000 - 2000 or so get free shipping.. therefore those who purchase all kinds of new crap benefit, and it works out of due to the large amount of funds being spent anyway..

but if you raise the price of every product by 1 pound and then offer free shipping, that makes no diff does it?
i say to remove the VAT price and only show the TOTAL inclusive of VAT because its like, ohh only 200, ohh, 235 :(, even though i know this gets me all the time
