Overclockers UK Presents: Eleven Table Tennis: The Tournament

i'm going to try and stream the final - if it doesn't break the PC!

I don't really want to hobble my machine for the game, so if streaming kills my performance, I will save the games after the match - these can be shared for viewing if i can find somewhere to put them.

NikTheSHNIK was supposedly going to look into someway to stream/record the final. I wonder did he make any progress on it. @NikTheSHNIK

EDIT: Here is the post.
I will sort out arrangements for spectating so we can stream the finals. I'll be needed for duties on that.

Thanks for all the hard work, melmac!
It was fun and illuminating, still can't believe those spin shots are possible and still no idea what one is supposed to do when on the receiving end...
Hope somebody will record the final, it'll be interesting to see how the finalists will counter each other's spins :)

you are welcome. If you are ever online and have 5/10 minutes I could give you a brief lesson in how to tackle spin shots. Just give you the basics and let you work from there.

Offer accepted :) I'll let you finish with the tournament and will pm you next week or something

MMart94 takes the spoils and wins the Tournament.

As I mentioned in my prediction, the game really came down to serves. Serve is king in table tennis, if one player has a much better serve than the other, the player with the good serve has a huge advantage and that proved to be the case in the final. Mmart944's serve gave Ale Bro all kinds of problems, forcing him to return weak shots to MMart94's forehand, and that forehand is deadly. Ale Bro tried to counter by increasing the difficulty of his own serves, but, this lead to a number errors which gave MMart94 easy scores.

In Fairness to Ale Bro, he never gave up and kept playing hard. He didn't settle on a defensive game either, attacking with any chance he got. But, it's really difficult when you are chasing a game and MMart94 had all the momentum. MMart94 is one of the top rated players in Eleven Table Tennis so it's no shame to lose against him. It's all a learning experience and hopefully Ale Bro will come back stronger in the next competition.

Congratulations to MMart94 and commiserations to Ale Bro.

Thanks for playing guys. If there is enough interest later on in the year might organise another tournament. Until then, get out there and start practicing.

Congratulations to MMart for winning the Tournament and to Ale Bro for hitting the runners up spot, it was a superb final!

Also many thanks to Melmac for all he's hard work in setting all this up and of course also to OCUK for supplying the spoils!

Thanks for the kind words guys, it was a great match alebro we had some really fun rallies thanks for streaming it, and shout out to melmac for hosting the tournament and putting in all this hard work!

Well done Mmart, I feel somewhat vindicated about my complete drubbing now!

I've been following VR since the early days of dodgy arcade machines, and it's a real testiment to the game, the technology and the community that we can have meaningful contest in VR in our own homes. Who'd have thought it!

Now, back to serve/return practice....

Thanks Guys. It was a pain in the.... wait, It was a pleasure to organise this :p

Going to play in the next one though. Some more fodder for Ale Bro and Mmart94 :D

Thanks Overclockers for organising the tournament. Mmart94 was the very worthy winner - he really is a top player, with some fantastic skills and a great temperament.

Also thanks everyone for tuning into the stream of the final - running into audio bugs in the ten minutes before we started was a bit stressful, so apologies for the lack of audio. I think this was user error rather than hardware, as the capture card I bought from Overclockers works perfectly, and my test streams went fine!

In a couple of the test streams I discuss how to find MMart94's weaknesses with some of the top players in the game - Rutzor just laughed at me when I asked, and he's number 3 in the game!

The final is available for viewing for the next month or so here https://www.twitch.tv/quintthemint . Mmart94 isn't invincible - I win a game at 13:33 lol!

LIV mixed reality is coming to Eleven Table Tennis soon (the dev promises...), and I'll be starting to make some cool table tennis videos when it happens, so check back on my channel in a month or so.
