Overclocking 4850, how far to go?

725/1125 for me, changed coolers to a HR-03 R600 which dropped temps a good few degrees more than the standard HR-03.

Will try the modded BIOS tomorrow.

Pencil modding resulted in a very hot card that made horrible noises underload, did improve my clocks but I wasn't going to kill the card for another 50mhz on the core.

Any 4850 uses with the stock cooler, pick up one of these:

how was it fitting wise as it clearly states 2900 xt only ? cheers

On my HIS IceQ I can't get higher than 690 / 1100 because I get artifacts (using CCC Overdrive). Any ideas on how I can boost this further or is it just the chip and not going to happen?

Temps are fine afaik.

meh, i use vista now as for i want xp is no use anymore, tri sli doesnt work that well in xp and you can forget 4xfire as well due to the limiting factors involved in dx9 only being able to do 2-3pre rendered frames, kinda usless when you have effectivly 4 cards aint it.

You need to increase the volts... A bios flash will get you to 715-750 and the simple pencil mod should be good for 775-800+.
