Overclocking a 3770k with a Gigabyte Z77X-UP7

Got the 44 week Costa chip now and my god what a difference!!

It's able to complete Intel burn test in standard RAM test at 4.9Ghz with 1.308v

The last chip couldn't even boot into windows at 4.7Ghz with that voltage!

Going to go for 5Ghz I think which should be attainable!

My 2400Mhz RAM is here too but it's 1.65v, is that's safe on Ivy's IMC?

that's better,what are temps like??

1.65v dram is fine for ivy and sandy

play games aswell,it can pass ibt/prime95 all day yet fall down on gaming and needing more cpu v to cure it

look for whea warnings/errors in event viewer (cpu parity 19) are the ones to look for, raise cpu v till there's 0 warnings/errors

You have a 3770K doing 5ghz and you use IBT oh dear!!! Dont torture good silicon. It wont remain good for long!!!

UP7 is a good board should run that at XMP. You tried playing with VTT and IMC volts. Giga Z77 board auto is way too low something like 0.9v when should be 1,05 stock. Test at 1.15v.

ALso test with TWCL forced to 8+ and TRFC around 264 to start with.

I only do 5 runs with high RAM tested...Once it passes that then I don't touture it after that.

Not touched any volts related to memory... So what should increase to 1.15v the VTT?

No good.. Boot looped :(

Won't pass POST with memory set over 1333Mhz :(

Even with VTT set at 1.15v

Tried it with CPU at stock speeds and no go..

what bios are you running? latest beta might help,it should go past 1333mhz with its eyes closed

id try latest modded bios

you can also raise system agen voltage or imc, default is 0.9v I think but tbh you shouldn't have to mess

Tried that BIOS when I had my 2600k installed and it was screwy..... messed up Windows, even when CPU was at stock, thought it was caused by the updated firmware in the drivers.

Maybe I'll try it again later..

It doesn't want to boost to 5Ghz now either and when it does boost it's very slow to react and boost up :(

Intel burn test can get it to boost to 5Ghz but normal software and games struggle to get it to boost over 2.6Ghz.
