Ello JCB33,
I'm glad to see your starting to venture into the dark side of computing...
As for stepping, this is the code on the CPU its self, so looking at CPU-Z is going to help in finding out the current speed and voltage but it won't tell us your CPU "Stepping". You can only find this out my taking the heatsink off the CPU and having a look. If you wanna do that just jot down the code and post it back here.
Click here for a good guide ot OCing. Its a easy to follow one and it explains what you are doing too. And isn't confusing!
Just a word of advice, 'cos you have a dual core CPU you want to be careful in increasing volts. Volts = heat, and unless you have a good heatsink and fan or watercooling / phase you are going to have to be careful.
When OCing you want to take note of the following.
1) Temps, Try and keep them below 50 - 55C on the CPU
2) Volts = Heat, mHz do result in a little bit more heat but its mainly Voltage.
3) RAM, you want to make sure you put a hefty divider on it to make sure you system doesn't become unstable by running you RAM too fast.
4) If your confused by the above don't be afraid to ask. Nothing is a stupid question (within reason).
I'm just pleased to see another person willing to try overclocking.
Finally, What are you complete PC sepcs?
Hope this helps,
Agent.
