overclocking advice for noob :)

Thanks for your help.

I put the volts onto 1.425 and prima ran over night without any probs :D

I am going to order a new fan, not sure which yet.

Thanks

Hmm this thread was what i was looking for :)

I understand the CPU part of overclocking ok but i was also a bit confused when it came to the memory and this has helped a little. I think my main problem is i dont know what changing each of the settings in the memory actually does, I dont understand what the divider does also (though im guessing it changes the FSB of the memory and is used to put it in sync with the FSB of the rest of the board?).

Could anyone give a couple of examples of different memory settings and what the end result is just so i can actually see what is happening when you change settings. :)

A divider essentially slows down your memory (NOTE: Speed = bandwith which is not critical to A64s) by running it as a proportion of your HTT (eg 1:2, so iff your HTT is 300 your mem will be 150)

theres a calculator knocking about somewhere, google A64memfreq and have a look.

That helps and is pretty much what i was thinking it was but explained a lot simpler, thanks :)

Will have a look for the program when i get home.
