Hi,

But of a newbie when it comes to OC'ing but really wanting to give it a go with my Haswell 4670K, can someone advise a safe overclock and what settings I could use to start off? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks :)

Can't remember what cooler you have but don't try this if using the stock cooler. Here's mine for 4.4Ghz. Got settings for 4.5Ghz too. Your bios should be similar to mine.

CPU Core Ratio - Sync all cores
Ratio Limit - 44x (45x for 4.5Ghz)
*Min CPU Cache Ratio - 8x
*Max CPU Cache Ratio - 44x (you may want to leave these until stable and then play around with the cache)
CPU Core Voltage override - 1.265v (1.285v for 4.5Ghz) (use manual voltage until you find the max overclock and then we can work out the offset).
CPU Cache Voltage - Manual Mode
CPU Cache Voltage Override - 1.300v (leave at stock until clocking the cache)
CPU Input Voltage - 1.90v (4.4Ghz or over and mine won't boot with less)

I have given you the settings for the ram in your motherboard thread. You may have to tweak things a little to suit your setup. Keep a eye on temps and don't use Prime, Aida or anything that uses AVX instructions for stress testing. I Use IBT V2.2 but some say that it uses AVX. I don't think it does as it doesn't force the extra 0.1v that the likes of prime, Aida and linx does plus the temps are much lower. Alternatively use Asus Real Bench.

I have loads of other settings as well but get stable first. I have found lots of tweaks to lower power usage at idle as well. I am down to 61w total system power while idle/browsing the internet. Again though, get your overclock stable first.

Thanks mate, I will give that a go over the next few days and report back :)

Hey mate I'm struggling to adjust some
Settings that seem locked in auto using the Asus BIOS, any ideas why it won't let me manually adjust it all?

Got more time now so what are you stuck on? Did you update to the latest bios when you got it? Download to a usb stick and flash using EZ-Flash in the tools section of the bios if you haven't. Changing AI Overclock Tuner to manual should free up the options.

Hi mate, just out at the moment but I'm
On the latest firmware. Will
Check to see if tweaker is on manual and report back.

I thought you already updated the bios but couldn't remember. If AI Overclock Tuner is already on manual any chance you could put up a couple of photo's of your bios settings (just AI tweaker will do for now) so that we can see what's going on please?

I have this motherboard and it's quite confusing when changing the voltage and other manual settings. You have to go down to the one below it and use the + key once then you can input any value you wish :)

Hey mate, not forgotten just been working all hours at the moment! I will get round to it hopefully after work tomorrow or sunday, will report back :)

I've done the settings you've suggested but I'm sure it's not working at 4.4ghz, this is what CPU z says:

Look's like Turbo is enabled as it says 8-44x multiplier. I think mines off as it goes straight to 4.4Ghz when loaded. It should go up to 4.4Ghz if you stick some load on it.
