Hey people, i recently overclocked my E5200 to 3.25ghz, i am very new to overclocking. so i set the voltage to 1.35v, today i tried to take it to 3.4Ghz so i did it (also i returned the voltage to 1.325v) and ran Prime95

after about 1 Minute on Worker#2 i recieved FATAL ERROR rounding was 0.5, expected less then 0.4 but Worker#1 kept on going.

Is there anything i am doing wrong, Specs:

[email protected] (somewhat unstable??)

Nvidia 9600GT 512mb EVGA
4GB RAM
ASUS P5q-E
Win7 x64 Professional

If you need anymore information please ask, Thank you.

what do you have your memory running at? (download cpuz to check/ or check in the bios) and what is it rated for (what is it stock)

my Memory (DRAM?) is at 441.5mhz. I haven't touched anything other then the FSB and Vcore. I made it come down to 3.31Ghz (Fsb 265x12.5) 3.250v

Ran Prime95 for quite a while without any errors on both Workers

that means its running at 882mhz (i guess stock is 800) ethier try rasing your dram voltage or lower you fsb:dram ratio so that the ram runs below its 800mhz

*edit* read the bottom bit sound like its all good now then dont forget to keep an eye on the temps.

Thanks for the tip, i forgot to mention it went to 59 tops while doing Prime testing, is that too hot or good? Also thanks for the dram tip, how much shal i increase it by??

I got the same CPU

Apparently, its a good overclocker but my bad motherboard holds me back SO much! only ever managed to get it to 2.9 (without changing VCore I know) and at times, it decides that is not stable O.o I removed it anyway now.

Do you have a stock cooler or a third party cooler? 59 is good with prime 95.

Ok thank you, I think stock cooler is enough and also taking my E5200 to 2.9ghz on stock vcore does make mine unstable too :D

Thank you, (i was pretty lucky to find that this username wasn't used before)

The only reason i am overclocking my processor is so that i can play Flight Simulator X smoothly

in the bios, use the ram multiplier to set your ram to near your default speed, even if its under 800mhz
it will display the ram speed in the bios.;)

afaik dont let it go higher than 70.C
also more vcore = higher temps, so increase the vcore in steps, then raise the fsb and stress test,
keep going until it fails then raise vcore a couple of levels again and retest
