Overclocking - Is it worth it?

cant you edit the voltage?

last time I messed with bios was on a 5870,i think I could set the voltages not sure

I have my 3930K clocked at 4.625Ghz 24/7 and the beauty is, it is done in the BIOS, so no need to bother with loading up software to run the clocks. I don't like having programs loading in start-up, as I like to keep that as clean as possible. If we could do the same for a GPU, I would set and forget... Maybe one for the nVidia/AMD peoples to sort.

You can....sorta :p
MSI AB - Start with windows, Start minimized and Apply overclocking at system startup.

You dont notice the MSI startup, as it's instantly minimized :D

I ran my first 670 at +120/+760 for almost a year. But when adding a second both spent most of their time at stock. Second card was a poor clocker. Same with my current 780, not much of a clocker either. Can get +120/+300 out of it for benchmarks but thats all ive done with it. Having more fun theese days clocking my ram, 2400mhz 2T to 2600mhz 1T.

Definitely think it's worth overclocking, at least now days with so much hardware being geared for it, hell even most manufactures suggest it on the boxes and provide overclocking software to do just that.

it all depends on what res you use what cards you use and what you want/hope to achieve. 20% increase can make the difference between playable/unplayable or just simply able to bump the settings up a notch
