Hey I am just building my first pc at the moment and i still need a cpu. Looking on Overclockers I found this bundle:

Having just bought a z97 msi motherboard I was thinking whether this would be a good buy for a fairly budgeted build. Having looked at costs I could stretch to one of these new i5s:

However with a decent cooler to overclock this would make the cpu and cooler about £150 more, what do you think?

I would stretch to the I5 personally, if you cant afford a cooler yet then just use the stock one then overclock when you can afford a new cooler.
But depending on usage you may get away with the pentium.
What is it being used for?

in fairness the Pentium K is a cracking budget chip

and theres plenty people pushing them to 4.5ghz and beyond it really depends on whether the games and apps you want to use will benefit from a quad core cpu

If you are looking for the system to last a few years without a CPU upgrade I would get at least a Core i3 or low end Core i5.

I assume you are getting an R7 265 due to your beudget?

If you have not, instead of the Core i5 4690K,I would get the following instead:

I would put the money saved from the CPU and the cheaper motherboard(a B85 or lowish end H97 or Z97 based one for around £60 would do) and lack of 3rd party cooler towards a better graphics card like an R9 280 or GTX760.

Thanks guys, I have already bought the r7 265 and a z97 because I don't really need a lot of performance however I would like a solid long lasting pc that will run quickly for a few years to come so I will probably go with the devils canyon.
