"Overclocks Dream" The Fury X

Funny how 1080 was referred to as a "console res", then when its discovered fury x performance isn't as good as nvidia at that res its suddenly the only res that matters. Apparently quite a lot of pc "enthusiast gamers" are all on 1080 for the sake of having this axe to grind.

Same thing with hdmi 2.0, all of a sudden everyone seemed to have 4k tv's and not monitors. A weird decision on amd's part but it is being sorted with an adapter anyway.

Go ahead and try on displayport - it doesn't work. This card is no good for 4k. There are other games that won't do 4k over displayport too that do it fine on HDMI 2.0.

I think it's more to do with how it's a very strange decision, esp how Steamboxes are almost upon us. Future proofing and all that (esp with that sweet AMD Quantum system, perfect for the living room. If it doesn't whine like a good 'un of course :p)

Well presumably that an issue with the games that needs fixed. Display port for 60hz is the main way of connecting a 4k panel to a pc so obviously something is amiss there.

What? DisplayPort handles 4k better than hdmi

Here a furyx running three 4k panels. Not sure we're your getting your information from but it's far from correct.

Actually the non x version + a freesync monitor is pretty good on a budget, but a 980ti + Gsync is a lot better.


That's the problem I'm seeing when choosing between going with one or the other, I'd like an IPS monitor and the current difference between the available 27" 144hz IPS version with free and the equivalent Gee monitor is over 220 quid.

Also running fine on a 295x2 connected via DisplayPort.
 
Trixx should have support in the next fortnight, not sure about ASUS GPU Tweak or AB.

We are working on a new Trixx and hopefully it will come out in the coming weeks. The support for Fury X is in the pipeline but due to the complexities of the chip we are needing more time for this implementation.

According to people who know their CHiL/IRs from their OnSems, the voltage regulator on Furys is exactly the same, class-leading component as on 290/390 cards, so the problem waiting to be solved lies somewhere else.

Yep its the same controller IC. Should be very easy to add software support. I think the only reason that has not been done upto now is its not been tested by AMD with voltages above stock.

It is the same IC but it's not the same GPU, if it's just case of testing for compliance then frankly it's pretty poor show as it should have been done months ago.
 
Any particular reason AMD link the mem & core voltages? Or are they not?

Can't help but notice the mem & core both take 1.2V now as opposed to GDDR5, does that simplify things in any way?
 
Well the fury X not having HDMI 2.0 doesnt matter one freaking bit and here is why. I have a hdmi 2.0 display and while waiting for my 980 ti to arrive i had to run it on a gtx 560 ti with no Displayport and only DVI-D and HDMI 1.4 i think(certainly not 2.0).. What i simply did was using HDMI and then create a custom res forcing 60hz.. It worked without any issues(no skipping or color issues) and by that logic, unless there is something im not aware of, it should work just as well for the fury.. Sure its not official hdmi 2.0 but if you can get the same effect by simple bit of thinkering then what is the big deal?

Not sure what is going on there (less than 4K res?) but you can't get 60Hz 4K over HDMI versions less than 2.0 just by forcing 60Hz in a custom res. The exception being a setup nVidia has which does sacrifice colour depth.
