Overnight bag for long flight advice

I'm quite relieved that I can take some deodrant with me hehe.

I've found my noise cancelling headphones, think i'll change the battery before I go.
Hmmmm, need to find out how big this hand luggage can be

Pressurised cans however aren't allowed in cabins AFAIK... Guess if you use a roll on...

Oooohh...
"Piece Concept : The Government of India regulations permits only one piece of cabin baggage on board. The dimensions of which should not exceed 115 linear cms and weight should not exceed 7 kgs."

55 x 35 x 25 cms apparently, so my backpack should be cool.

Thanks again guys

Standard hand luggage size. :)

OOOH!
"TSA and our security partners conducted extensive explosives testing since August 10, 2006 and determined that liquids, aerosols and gels, in limited quantities, are safe to bring aboard an aircraft"

So I can take a mini aerosol deo apparently.

Thanks guys! You're stars! :D
It's Jet Airways from Heathrow to Mumbai then to Hong Kong. I am so scared of just getting trapped in Mumbai in the middle of the night lol

Couldn't you get a direct flight? Took about 13 hours when I went.

I've found my noise cancelling headphones, think i'll change the battery before I go.

Good idea, I found the noise to be the most annoying thing ona long flight.

When I went they didn't actually check the weight of my hand luggage, which weighed about 18kg :p Was only a backpack though.

Direct flight was way more expensive and i'm in no real rush so I don't mind if it takes a bit extra but like I said i'm nervous of the transfer in Mumbai, though I probably have nothing to be nervous about.

I'm sure I bought a mini aerosol in Boots airside at Manchester airport a few months ago so I can't see why they wouldn't be allowed in hand luggage :).

Well does it matter if its after a security check? Can you put something dangerous into an aerosol?

Because like water, you can't bring it with you into the airport but you can buy it at their shops after security checks. Another case however if it's less than 100ml

Aerosols - like other products in liquid form - are restricted to 100ml (3oz) or smaller containers, so any larger aerosols will need to go in your luggage in the hold.

Everything you can buy after the checks are considered safe and not tampered with by the airport.

Small aerosols are technically allowed, but there's potential for security folk to get nervous about them (especially where security is particularly tight, which I imagine Mumbai might be).

I'd suggest avoiding the problem, but if you want to try it then there's no harm in doing so. Worst that can happen is they take it off you. Just don't do what some do and get in a strop over it! :)

Making sure you have good batteries in any electronics you want to take in hand luggage is always a good idea - just in case the security folks ask you to turn it on (not happened to me in a while, but it has happened).

According to Jet Airways website
Guests arriving at Delhi and Mumbai from an international flight and then in transit to another flight (International or Domestic) will not be permitted to carry liquids more than 100ml in their cabin baggage when going through security at these airports.

So if I can get it through UK security at 100ml or less I can get it through India fingers crossed

Edit: can you take loose batteries?

I take aerosols on the plane all the time, though they are the 35ml kind from Superdrugs travel section...Nivea Silver 24 HR Protection normally does the job :)

That's after security check though?

My point was that it's ok to take on the plane. Mel was concerned that she couldn't take an aeorosol on a plane but it must be ok to at least take a miniature one if they can be bought after security.

I think you're going overboard a bit here looking up the details, unless you've not been on a plane in years...

Mumbai and most other airports will be exactly the same as UK airports so anything you can take on UK planes you can take on international planes. What your last quote was referring to is if you buy drink (duty free or just water) in the departure lounge at the UK airport you won't be able to take it through at your transfer airport (you have to go through standard security again).

Yes you can take normal loose batteries on.
