Overtaker Haters!

The worst thing is when people expect me to break the speed limit on dual carriageways when I am overtaking a long line of lorries so they can carry on doing their 90mph. I don't have any of it. Its so tempting to brake test them. Thing is I dont want to end up in a ditch.

so you pull out infront of other cars forcing them to brake? hmm smart...... :(

I think you know exactly what he is saying.
Car in distance in RHL doing 90 behind you, lorry doing 60 odd in your lane, pull out into plenty of space with the lorry still infront of you (unless you suggest we tailgate the lorry before attempting the overtake). Take your time to overtake lorry doing 70 mph. In the mean time said car doing 90 has caught you up and has had plenty of time to slow down.

If they are a good driver they will slow down appropriately and wait for you to finish the overtake. If they are a bad driver they will keep on at 90 until they have to brake to avoid hitting you, they will then proceed to glue themselves to your bumper.

I totally agree - the bad driver thinks if he approaches car A with enough speed they will go back behind the lorry to let them trough. They are selfish and hazardous.

Today had a twist, while he was doing that he lost control went onto a verge, on the other side of which is a ditch and had to quickly grab the wheel back to regain control.

What a flaming numpty.

That would have been so perfect if he drove into the ditch and wrote his ****-RV off, and then died.

It's insulting, isn't it? They're basically saying I don't know how to drive.

Let me get this right, if you are travelling at 70mph and someone passes you at 90mph, you feel insulted because said drivers are 'basically saying you don't know how to drive'.

Erm, WTF?

Gotta echo Drexel, huh? I for example would be passing you as i dont tend to stick to 70 on clear roads...but i wouldnt have any thoughts on your driving whatsoever.

It's even more hilarious over taking prats like that in a Skoda that can leave them for dead.

They get red mist when they see they've been over taken by a Skoda, same thing happens when they think they can race you on the motorway and they end up a dot in the rear view.

LOL, maybe I'm insanely paranoid or sensitive or something but I just imagine them sitting in their car going "tsk tsk look at this idiot trundling along, he drives like an old woman, well I'm not waiting around" etc.

I think he meant that the other wya round, you overtake, they beep/wave etc. and it makes it seem like you can't drive.

I've had so much fun with people like this...if I overtake them and they get irritable I don't really care as I drive on and away, I have however had the other side of things where I'm being overtaken by these sorts of numpties. Was driving through a village a while ago at 30, the marked limit (on signs and on the road) and this old couple try to overtake me, now I think I'm in the right to get irritable, end of that story though is they didn't overtake...

Another time, same village, just about to pass the NSL sign and put my foot down when this rather stupid woman in her modern 4x4 overtakes me, meaning I can't put my foot down to actualy go up the hill at anything more than 30 due to not wanting to cause her to have an accident if someone comes round the corner 200yards down the road.

[/rant] :p

I just find overtaker haters of legitimat overtakes funny though, :)

What gets me is when they have finished their 3mile overtaking manover at 3mph more than the car they are passing, they take another 3miles to move back into an empty lane.

What makes it even more bizarre is that he's actually referring to people passing him on dual carriageways..

yeah i think everyone has to follow him, and not pass till he turns off.... maybe its a cruise/meet or something. :p

It's especially bad when it's a tractor overtaking another tractor.

I kid you not, I've seen it done.

i had a turd who overtook me yesterday in a 30mph zone (I was doing 30), came past me at 45 to then slam on his brakes in front of me and pull into a road that's a dead end. Shame, though if he had done that 3hrs prior a mobile speed camera van would have caught him.

No problem with people who wish to drive efficiently.

It's just people who risk your life or other peoples lives overtaking you in a dangerous manor is what I have a problem with.

I've confronted people like this in the past and response is usually "I can handle it"
