On the way to college, theres a huge stretch of country lane which is preety wide.

Today, i overtook a car at 60mph and he went nuts. He was right on my tail all the way to college, and it turns out hes a lecturer, not one of mine though :p
The overtake wasnt dangerous either.

Why do people hate it soo much though?

Because overtaking is inherantly dangerous of course!! Really, who knows what goes on in these peoples heads. Just expect everybody else on the road to be a complete moron - most of the time you're right and the rest of the time is a nice surprise :)

Its queue jumping :p Must be an implied insult or something, what cars were involved. Try overtaking a bmw in a micra and see their reaction :D

I do a journey most weeks which consists of about 25 miles of lovely country lanes. Can't say I've ever had any problem with anyone getting narked that I've overtaken them (probably because I'm normally long gone before they'd even notice :))

I love it when people drive at 40mph in a NSL 60mph zone and then proceed to flash me on the straight overtake!

The "How dare that nasty little man overtake me?" attitude. Usualy the same type that do 40 on an NSL road and then carry on at the same speed through 30mph sections.

Or you make a perfectly safe overtake and someone driving toward you about 1/2 mile away starts flashing his lights by the time you've already pulled in. I usualy give them a cheery wave and a flash of the lights back :D

Muppets. The world is full of them, and they are increasing exponentialy in numbers it seems.

We got to the gates and he went along side me (both in our cars). He looks at me like something off the back of his shoe, i call him a poof piece :p

Some people have such bizarre attitudes to overtaking, my mum and dad can't understand why you'd do it on a country road, yet a dual carriageway or motorway is fine. If you pick the right moment, its just as safe, so whats the problem?

I overtook someone in some crappy little Japanese shoebox as he was doing 40 in a 60 then slowed down for a 30 limit through a village ~200 yards later. The chap in the tin box sailed past me at 40 in the village.

This really winds me up :)

 I think they take it as a personal attack or an insult or something that their driving caused you to want to overtake.

They are probably the same crew who cant understand the concept of merging in turn at site of a lane closure and think your jumping the line.

Idiots

All of them.
