Overwatch

Second day and loving it even more. I love that the more you play as a character you get a real feel for them so to speak. Never thought I'd like being the rollerblading healer, but my god was it great fun coming in with his special in the last 5 seconds to help our team keep the point.
 
Hit 59 last night after a great 4 win streak. In my usual group of 3 and what really made it was the other randoms in the team communicating with us, always goes so much better like that. Made a great push after getting knocked off the point, had Lucio's ult up so grouped us up, hit speed boost and popped ult just before we entered the point somehow catching them completely unaware (I find this happens fairly often with speed boost)
 
Anyone else getting choppy "play of the game" replays....after the last patch i think ive lost a few FPS in game and the replays are quite choppy.

Didn't have this problem before.
 
Enjoy this game but at my level and solo q at the moment its frustrating, im mid skill and not into the comp side of things and this is being pushed into the wrong direction for me, its a shame as it has the the same great flavour that TF2 had at the beginning ie a counter for everything..i hope they do more more modes like Lucio football, my daughter saw me playing it and said how much like Rocket league it was (one of the games i let her play) until someone started bad mouthing there own team and i realised i was still playing a FPS (she is 8).
If they are willing to do something different they have the basis of an absolute classic game here.
 
Actually managed to play this game as a 6 man stack for the first time last night with some nice people at the over30 clan. Can say the game is so much better when you have a full team communicating and planning picks to help one another. Even when you lose you know it is not because of your own teams stupidity! The ranking system feels fair enough in a 6 man stack where you can rely on people and as a team learn from your mistakes....whereas solo where you just either have incompetents or just angry people looking for the first mistake to start insulting and blaming everything on one fail.

I would have thought the abuse made it more like rocket league rather than less, I find both to be pretty bad.
 
Odd weekend of games for me. Quick play all the way. First few games I honestly could not hit for toffee. Not with hitscan characters, not with projectiles, even with Mei's ice spray. Terrible time.

A couple of times I even lined up stationary enemies with McCree and somehow missed, despite being right on them. Got annoyed and logged off. Came back later and it was back to normal, went on to have a fine session. Wondering now, was it something at my end, something in my connection, or was I just being a bit crap first thing in the morning? I suspect the latter.
 
A new low in solo-q yesterday.

Defending Hanamura, our Reinhaert went out the big wooden doors (A choke point and easiest bit to defend) in to the building kind of opposite (nearer their spawn) and held his barrier up in there with a Soldier 76....Funnily enough a reaper stormed the room and they died pretty much instantly, and then we all died as well.

I have no words for some people's tactics...The enemy reaper even got POTG so we could re-watch the cluster ****

I def have games with mccree where I feel like I'm hitting people in the head and I'm not getting hit markers. It's odd.
 
I finally had a bit of a breakthrough and managed to climb to rank 56!! Though it does reveal another problem with the randomness of your team-mates in competitive... I don't know whether I can attribute this success to my own skills or not; maybe I just got lucky with who I got grouped with...

I'll take it though for the reward :D doubt I'll be able to get to the next threshold (60)

It's usually a bit of both - half decent team mates and you playing alright as well.

I solo queued for ages trying to become decent at Ana / Zenyatta and dropped 13 ranks from 68 to 55 and I although I was on some horrible teams I can't put it down purely to that :D. Coulda queued in quick play but I find the games there just don't bear any resemblance to competitive so is largely pointless.

Queued up again with mates Friday and Sunday and climbed back to a semi-respectable 62 :D.
 
Season 2 changes!

New Skill Rating System:
  • Ranging from 1-5000 which gets rid of the fractional increments
  • If you win or lose, you'll be going up/down a full level
  • For "Top 500 Players" there will be a requirement of having played at least 50 matches
Introducing Skill Rating Tiers:
  • 7 tiers
  • Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grand Master
  • Gold (Level 2000-2499)
  • For all tiers besides Master and Grand Master, you won't be allowed to drop lower for the season. So if you reach Gold you won't ever drop down to Silver even if you drop below the initial requirement for that tier
  • Season rewards will be based on what tier you reach
Sudden death is going away completely:
  • Control Maps: There is no sudden death. Games still play best out of 5
  • Assault Maps: Will still play like the Season 1 time bank system
  • Changes to Assault: Bonus 30 seasons after the first initial cap. This is so that the game doesn't instantly end if the attacking team captures the first point in overtime.
  • Originally when you captured a point with 30 seconds left, it would bump up your timer to 2 minutes. That will be decreased to 1 minute.
  • There will be ties but it will be very rare
  • Ties only apply if: Both teams don't push the payload at all & If both teams don't cap Point A
  • If a tie happens, both teams will receive CP but it won't be as much as a win
Competitive Points received is being increased by x10:
  • So if you have 50CP now, you'll have 500 in Season 2
  • The cost of Golden Weapons will increase to reflect this
  • Smurfing will be addressed
  • The skill gap limit between one player to another will be 500 levels.
  • Example: If you're level 2000, you can only play with other players between 1500-2500
  • This system will be tested in PTR and will be adjusted based on feedback to balance it correctly
Skill Rating Decay:
  • Only applies to top end players
  • If you're within Diamond, Master and Grand Master your level will decrease by 50 every 24 hours if you don't play for Competitive for a week
  • This has a floor limit so you won't drop infinitely.
  • This system is meant to keep top players constantly playing to keep their high rank instead of just stopping once they reach it All of this is subject to change based on feedback during PTR so do give it a shot and give them your thoughts!
