Overwatch

I have a wildcat sitting in my drawer which i only use for the odd single player action game on my pc, let me know if you want to downgrade/swap ;)

Nah lol

As much as I loved the feel of the wildcat i was only getting 2 months out them before they would break and having to send back.

Plus with this wolverine being to drop sensitivty at the touch of button is amazing. You can have the stick sensitivity up as high as you want in game then any time you wanna headshot someone just pull the paddle in for pinpoint accuracy.

Still im not going to be playing widow at time soon lol.

or go ingame and change scoped sensitivity..

helps with muscle memory more instead of having to switch DPI all the time

oh I don't actually play anyone with a scope.

I been using the button a lot on lucio, anytime the enemy is walking through a choke I can hold the button in while I aim and have my aim stay steady as rock at head height.

Having a button to steady the aim on a controller is a godsend as it's no longer a tossup between turn speed and accuracy.

Your aim is so steady Scott, nice shooting!!

Other team doesn't stand a chance when widow doing that.

What's your #**** for that account and I will add ya.

Honestly, i remember why I stopped playing this game for a long while! Its frustrating and fun at the same time.

I have such a love hate relationship with it. But due to having children between its release and now, ive only really just gotten some time to get back into it again.

Ill try summarise my current issue and hope anyone is willing to shed some light on it, or give me some suggestions or feedback so I can improve. (Or help drag me out of the silver trench and back into the low golds where im confident I belong)

Ive not played competitive properly since Season 3 (whereby I maintained gold in S2, but dropped to silver in S3 due to what I feel was quite a bad run and bad teams etc.)

Now I think I'm really quite a capable support player! And play supports pretty much all the time (mainly Brigitte at the moment, and Moira if needed if no one else goes main Healer) - its just the play style I enjoy.

However, playing support in Silver is a HORRIBLE experience unless you have some other good team mates who know how to play Tank and DPS roles properly. Regardless of my ability, im confident in this statement being accurate.

Now I know a lot of people post about this kind of thing all the time, and receive negative feedback. Its possible I'm at the rank I am at because ultimately I may deserve to be here. But if I occasionally group with other higher level players (mainly gold) I hold my own just fine.

Another reason I am annoyed is my friend has a similar story to me. He played S2 and S3 ranked with me, and we placed similar ( both gold in S2 and him gold in S3 and me top silver)

He played his S10 placements and lost literally 8 or 9 out of the 10. Yet still got a gold placement this season! What class does he play? Spammy DPS farrah or Junkrat! I played this seasons placements games, and won (7 or 8 I think) and still only ranked silver?

Sorry for the waffle, I'm just baffled.

Winning or losing in placements is all dependant on what SR the game thinks you have while playing them I think. If it thought you were 2,200 and you lose 7 win 3, you have a net loss of maybe 120 SR, so maybe come out 2,080. If it thinks you're 1,800 and you win 7 and lose 3, net win around 120SR, so it places you 1,920. I don't know why people think the winning more will auto place you higher than the person losing more?

You've not really given us much to advise on though as it's generally quite a vague post.

Hey Scott,

Ive never really captured any game play before, ill try capture some over the weekend as maybe someone can help analyse and advise me how to improve. Is shadowplay any good for this still or would you advise another application?

Andy,

Thanks your comments they actually make quite a bit of sense! Like I said I know I'm at the rank I am because I probably belong here based on my historic performances in ranked etc.

I specifically remember S3 being so bad for me, and a lot of that was on my not playing the Heroes properly or being the only one trying to change picks to counter etc. uneffectively.

Since that Season I only really played QM for fun here and there, but after getting back into it recently and getting (from what i feel anyway) a bit better, iI decided to go back into competitive again.

If you could let me know if there are any key parts of playing heroes like Briggite/Moira most effectively are? Or any simple tips that have helped you all improve over time, I would appreciate it.

I don't really play support much, a bit of Mercy where for me the thing is to remember to use power when heal isn't needed. It's kind of annoying when I main soldier and Mercy is healing me when I'm full! Also, know when to try the revive and when to accept they are gone, or not needed at that point.

Ult timing is one that a lot don't seem to think about. Having said that, I think about it, and still get it wrong quite a lot of the time! At the same time, sometimes I'm hanging on to my ult, waiting for both Dva to be out of mech and Rein's shield to be broken and I end up waiting for ever and ever... (I mainly play Soldier)

Make sure you use the LFG option, it means there's much less arguing about roles and characters. Also, do you play with a mic? I tend to go for the groups asking for mic use and generally have found better teams that way.

I think at the silver/gold level DPS is more "important" to be good than support. If your DPS aren't killing anyone, then no matter how much healing you do, your never going to win. DPS makes the difference - as above - a good widow ruins teams, no matter how good you are with support you rarely can outplay a good dps.

It's hard to get out of silver/gold at times but you need to find a good team (use LFG) and grind it out. Been there done that. Played from 1800 to 3300 over the seasons......

Yeah and I think you are 100% right. Im not sure if you remember but I've played some games with you in the past actually (back when you started at around the 1800's i think)

Maybe I need to drop support in competitive and look to provide better off support or all out DPS?

Andy,

Thanks, yea ult timing is very important, your completely right, and Mercy Damage boost is something i always pay attention too (or at least try to. I tried LFG last night, played games with MIC only groups and set roles, it was a horrible experience at my level if im honest. We lost almost every game. I grouped up with some others (friends i made the other night after a few good games) and we instantly played a lot better and I clawed the games back.

So frustrating.

Thanks for the feedback though guys.

For me LFG is the best thing to happen to this game for sure. I hit a low of like 1800 last season but I've made it back to 2800 currently this season playing mainly support. Good teams/mics are essential and LFG has made that much better for me. Rarely have I had a bad team on with LFG. Yeah - you loose some games, but a good group tends to stick together.

Whether or not it helps but I play mainly on NA servers. At least your getting english as the main language for sure!! Fairly friendly place as well compare to some of the european servers!!
