Overwatch

Level 7, new to the game, finding it frustrating as matchmaking takes 5+ mins and when I get matched its against full level 100+ team of 6 genjis and absolutely nothing can be done, so broken in quick play.

Basically playing against full teams all communicating who have thousands of hours of experience of the same hero Vs. me who has 1 hour played as Tracer

Haha. Had to laugh, sorry. I feel your pain.

6 Genji's in Quickplay? Your team will need 6 Winstons and you'll win :)

Or even a mixture of Winston, Zarya and Symettra.

It's ok it doesnt matter ive just lost 12 games in a row. If there was a hidden elo its just dropped right down .

Still getting matched with Lv. 70-90 semi premades. I know level technically means nothing but it means they have a significant experience gain over me.

My battletag is on the previous page i cannot wait for some revenge.

Think I'm out. Solo just isn't enjoyable at all when you land 1-2 on your team who are fairly useless. The heavy reliance on team play, hero choice and ults just screws you more often than not even if you're playing well (widow, mei and junk on attack was the choice last map played). I haven't managed to get higher than 56 at all, which incidentally was I think straight after 2 wins after matchmaking - a scoring system which just takes into account your individual performance as I understand it. There's a good chance you won't go beyond it solo afterwards as you're relying on the luck of the matchmaking for your level. I'd be interested to see what percentage of people increase solo queue only after matchmaking. Even better would be to see how many of those increasing are Genji, Mcree and Tracer.

LewisRaz#2778 - Ive added a few from here. Rank 40. Not elitist. Not a noob just seem to play most of my ranked in 6man premades and get smashed by kids who work better as a team. Most of my team are fairly intoxicated by the time we start playing.

I play solo 80% of the time and I'm climbing just fine. But I have above average aim and highish competitive level experience in other fps' so I'm at an advantage I guess.

If you're playing in a 6 man who doesn't work together at all then you're at a big disadvantage and might as well just solo.

You are right, hence why im probably a few ranks lower than I should be. :P

The same was true of HoTS. Our group all want to play together but its not always as serious as the enemy team are taking it ;)

The matchmaking more often than not just seems to screw me at 51-53. According to the skill level system, I'm a worse player than after 12-13 competitive games (10 placement, 2-3 straight after) currently by 6 levels (56 down to 50). This simply isn't the case. This just gives no incentive to keep playing given I won't attain 57 due to future levels not being judged on individual performance until placement next season. I reckon at most I could hit 58-60 after placement, but doing that afterwards based upon win/loss and the random team as opposed to individual performance and I'd have no chance from say rank 50. It's a decent game, however the reliance on luck of the matchmaking for your own skill starts to become annoying in such a heavily orientated team based game. After placement matches, is there a reason why skill level isn't judged by say 80% of your own performance as opposed to mainly win/loss? I don't like the idea of gold players carrying bronze with 20 seconds of afk in the mix plus abusive chat.

Maybe they could inject some more popularity into BF4 with your skill based upon win/loss and this playing a role in finding servers. 30-2 in a tank with a huge score +200% bonus used as an example. You loose the map due to others and as an individual can't play any better - apparently you're unskilled compared to someone on the opposing winning team who's spent half his time trying to c4 vehicles at 4-15 k/d and hardly any score :D

I too usually queue solo and focus on 2 - 3 characters mostly. Find it very hit and miss when getting a decent team. Sometimes people just mess about and there's nothing you can do about it. Although saying this I'm not high enough for competitive yet so just casual play.

Guarantee if you just played more and improved you'd go up in rank

I've improved, played more and gone down in rank though and more often than not, due to 1-2 of the other 5 that you can't do anything about  If skill level was heavily based off individual performance as with placement (I believe it ignores win/loss?) the issue wouldn't exist. I think most people are fine with loosing when you're out skilled so long as you aren't punished too much if you play well, however when you're zenyatta for half a map and gold in damage, you can't help but think maybe you're being screwed by your supposed damage dealing team mates.

I'm talking long term. Put in 300 more hours then see where your rank is. You don't just magically improve your rank in a week if you're at your skill cap.

It's not a bad thing to be stuck at your skill cap, it happens to literally everyone. Rank = hours put in, nothing more. If you're not willing to do that then playing competitively just isn't your thing I guess.

I just don't see why it doesn't work like the placement scoring system as per the above and instead judges upon win/loss of which you only have 1/6th control. Perhaps like you say, it's about the hours put in and is intentional with it's 50/50 win to loss ideal. After all, the more hours you play it, the more likely you are to spend money on the loot boxes.
