Own up, whos quit War and gone back to preordering Wrath of litch king?

I played WaR for the first free month and cancelled. Got to level 20 and got bored of the grind and the complete lack of open RvR. They made the 2 factions quest far to apart from each other, they needed to overlap at least.

Unsure if I will stick with WAR, subbed for another month but there is no way I will play Wow. It is just more of the same crap. get a few levels, do the same 4 battlegrounds a million times for honour.

At least with WAR the PVP is a little more varied but I am giving up on MMOs until something radically different comes out. (still play Eve a bit)

I need a MMOFPS like Planetside. Best game ever!

Ive not renewed WAR, and im now waiting for WotLK after i quit WOW around the guild Kara farming period.

WotLK early shots and videos seemed very samey to me, most of the zones and models seemed to be reused from classic wow. However now its complete, and ive tried the beta - it does look very cool and feel very new and fresh again.

I have been trying to get the feel for some of my characters again, after not playing for probably 8 months nearly its pretty tough. One of my 70's (a mage) is in Kara epics, and is getting one shotted in battlegrounds. That really annoys me to be honest. I like how WAR makes PVP feel fair with standardising stats and giving everyone fairly equal pvp gear based on tiers. People would probably argue that it's really easy to get much better gear with WOW, but even so if you just want to log in - do a bit of pvp and have some fun that's not really possible - because you are just going to get beat up unless you pvp all day every day and earn the grind fest pvp gear or raid.

But i know Wrath will get round that, and by level 73 or 74 my Mage will be just as good as those that have been playing non stop for the last 8 months. That must suck for them, but its good for me.

Resubbed for a month after first free month a week ago i think.

It's just deserted. I like the idea, and with a lot of people it's ok. But it is a bit shallow, they havent given people incentive to do anything whatsoever, not that there are people playing it now on majority of servers i've seen. Most servers are on low now, and theres LOTS of them.

If they merge some servers, it will be good.

Which game are you on about?

Wow is fully populated still?

Thought this thread was about people leaving war to come back to wow??

Back on WoW now with a few friends all levelling new chars together, which imo is the fun bit. We did our raiding and thats out of our systems now, so its a nice leisurely game to play if you treat it as such and not a race to gear.

Thats how i played wow, i didnt do a single raid (seems boring) I just did quests and lvld for a few hours a day, had fun, pvd a bit. It's a good game when played like that. I can't see how anyone can spend all their time on there raiding for items or whatever it is you do

I was on about WAR, everyone has left already. To give my server an example, an average of 1/10th of the guilds i know are left.

See now thats what I mean about it not being just the fault of the game, but equally the fault of the players. Take the greatest MMO of them all (imo), UO. What was the incentive to do anything in UO? There were no quests, no raids, no chatbox, no voice comms, no uber <insert colour here> items. Yet it was brimming with life, social community and fun. Was simply a different (and better imo) kind of player back then.

Same could be said for Star Wars Galaxies: Pitiful PvE, no quests (I mean, they were lowest thing you could call quests, and only handful of them), no raids.

What it did have was exploration, community and a playerbase that liked to provide for each other, help each other and gather together. Often players would sit in cantina just chatting.

I have yet to see anyone type in region chat that i've seen in WAR, alliance chat once in a blue moon, Guild chat is ok if the loonies are online. No one wants to group, help each other. The game has been designed just for the zerg and it may aswell be a MMOFPS.

but agreed yeh, WoW helped and damaged the MMO world all in one blow.

I don't know, quests were some of the funnest things i did in SWG back before the new combat patch. You'd start in anchor-head, get a party very quick and easily with about 12-15 people in it. Everyone would get 2 basic go here and kill that quests from one of the job terminals, that would reward X amount of credits. Then you would just all head out of town, and spend 30-40 minutes clearing everyone's quests and earn a ton of money and XP.

It was really really good fun, then you'd just head back to town and start again. Plus the diversity of the characters back then made the combat really cool to watch. You'd have pets, people fighting hand to hand - lasers everywhere. And not a single sodding Jedi to be seen.

Good times.

But yeah, roll on Wrath :)

I seriously considered going back to WoW but bit the bullet and took out a 3 month WAR sub. Blizz have just dumbed WoW down too much, the nuances and skill has been diluted as others have said. Plus I'm playing with RL mates in WAR which is a first for me and is proving to be good fun :D

I've got a feeling I will end up back in Eve although will have to start from scratch having given my character away many years ago to a guildy thinking I'd never be back... :o

Blimey,

didnt know it had dropped that low that quickly, i played in beta, bought the game, but only played my free 14 days for being a beta tester lol, still have my seald boxed copy. didnt bother after the 14 free days.

When i say 1/10th of guilds, i mean 1/10h of their members. For example, you will see only 20 active in a 200+ guild. My guild has been recruiting, so of the 71 members, i'd say 15-20 are active, usually 7 at most online though.

The servers that were on high a few weeks back are now reporting low/medium.

Actually, there are no high servers in EU that i can see, though primetime weekend might offer different story, but even saturday it was dead on my server. 1 warband at T3 total.

I'm gonna stick with WAR for now, there's a big patch coming in the next month or so, and that will make or break the game for everyone really.

Not quite AoC drops then but still.

Ahh well, i am a wow fanboy at heart lol, have always stayed with it even when playing other mmo's be it eve, aoc and guildwars, where the others have been dropped after a couple of months wow has something that brings me back.

I'd love to go back to WoW as this is the best online game but I have not got 30+ hours per week for it anymore. WAR seems to be more casual game, I will stick to it and see what happens in few months time.

to be honest, it's the dark ages of MMO's at the moment, you won't get them coming back to actual online worlds properly until mid-late 2009 by looks of it. For now, they are lowest common deniminator, instant gratification, hack and slash.

I had a while off them, got sucked in by WAR (didn't even look into Beta's). It was one of my random shelf pickup's that got some good reviews. I did the same with SWG, just bought it in a shop one day for the hell of it, time will tell if this will sucker my time in, but there isn't enough there as of yet.
