Had problems with my pc freezing recently

Realised the fan not working on the heat-sink
so removed it and found that the tim had oozed out of the side where the cpu overheated

now that I have put it all back together it will stay on for a while but will lock up except for the mouse which I can still move around the screen

I left it on last night and woke to find it had the OxcOOOOOOe The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

I have had this happen a few tines to me now.

'When I put the pc back together the sata cables were in different places because i could not remember where they were.

Does this sound like SSD on the way out or windows not liking me moving stuff?

tried clearing the cmos by leaving out the motherboard battery for 30 minutes? it will reset your bios settings to default so try and make a note of them if you can

well threes a cmos reset button on the mobo which I have pressed on several occasions recently
As I had a 7970 with would not boot into windows and I used the clear cmos to try to get into safe mode, which did not help so have rma'ed the card back.

so I know the cmos has been cleared

I would try the battery method first, the cmos button doesn't always clear it properly

then take it from there
