Hello just built new mobo using the gigabyte Ds45

all ok apart from drives seem slow

booting with a raptor and takes longer than my old samsung on my 939 system

do i need to still boot with sata drive f6 on install to get them on the sata side of thing?? at the mo there just installed as ide drives using windows drivers (4disks).

i have the drives on the intel chip and the cd rom drive on the gigabytes chip, that ok??

also there are a few options on the bois about AHCI do i need thease enable for the harddrives to work as sata?? tried enabling them its goes through the bois does all that bit n restarts (just loops) ??

You can't enable AHCI on the fly, you need to either reinstall the OS (with the correct SATA drivers) or do some fancy shuffling moving the drives from port to port and fudging drivers. It doesn't really buy you much anyway.

How you have your drives set up sounds fairly sensible, in IDE mode you shouldn't need a driver for the install (as you've found) but it's certainly a sensible move to load the controller drivers (Intel Matrix Storage wotsit) once Windows is installed.

Have you checked the drives with HDTach/HDTune?
