panasonic plasma's

well i bought my gt30 today and also bought my son the PANASONIC TX-P42S31B
42" PLASMA TV bit disapointed that it did not come with a free pair of specs or a 3d movie.

now my next question do i have to a panasonic specific dongle for the wifi or will any dongle do? i as because i have a spare netgear dongle somewhere.

comets also had a new panasonic Passive 3d set in not as good as the active in my opinion

Congrats on your purchase, I'm sure you'll love the set :)

You'll need to buy the panasonic dongle unfortunately :/

however the fbr issues seem to have been fixed with the latest fw updates

Oh? I've only done one update when I got it last Aug. The FBr is my main bugbear tbh, I'm quite sensitive to it.

I was just a bit worried about introducing other issues with upgrading (I shouldn't have read the avforum thread :p) but if this can cure FBr, it would be awesome.

Also, what is the update only panny engineers can do via the sd slot?

the netgear wnda3100 will work fine, sold many of them to plug into panas tellys, plus they are afterall the people who made panas dongle for the 2011 range.

many thanks for the reassurance on the netgear dongle. you say you've sold many, care to link me to one?

Really? As far as I was aware only the panasonic dongles worked, I stand corrected then :)

@Freakbro: I think the sd card fix was for the green tinge issue. You might want to update to the latest firmware though to eliminate the fbr, it's worked for a majority of people :)

In the new 2012 models yes, but for last years no netgear will work fine, and tbh is a lot more reliable.

i emailed panasonic just to say i was dissapointed not to recieve a 3d movie or pair of 3d glasses with my gt30, nothing nasty just abit of customer feedback for them and this is their reply.

Dear Mr Me

Thank you for your e-mail enquiry regarding your Panasonic Product.

In response, I would explain that In response, Panasonic market a diverse range of products to suit individual preferences. In this case, 3D glasses have not been supplied with your model of television because this model is aimed at customers who do not wish to use the 3D aspect of their set, but have the opportunity to purchase 3D glasses if they wish to change their mind.

We currently have television packages in our current range which do come with 2 pairs of 3D glasses. I would recommend you enquire what particular functions you would like to obtain from a television set, prior to purchase. This is to ensure you have a greater understanding in the differences in models and assist in avoiding such occurrences in future.

I would recommend speaking to your retailer if you believe they have not provided you with sufficient information regarding this product prior to purchase.

I have also passed your comments about Avatar 3D on to relevant department and they will be in contact with you shortly.

I trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. However, of course, if you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us by sending an email using this form: www.panasonic.co.uk/email Please include your ticket reference in the message.

Kind Regards,

William Donald

Did you not ask or read the description of whats included ? some dealers do supply free glasses some dont, but they are not in the box unlike the VT range.

The same goes for 3D content, only when a promotion is on do they offer free films, but normally when bought as a package with a bluray player.

How much was the GT30 ?

Have to admit I'm rather puzzled as to what you were expecting with that, and as insane has said, free glasses or 3d content over what is included in the box would be down to the dealer, not Panasonic.

oh i know what your saying i knew what i was getting, however it would have been nice if a pair of specs or a dvd were included by the manufacturer.
the gt30 was £999

But the GT30 doesn't include glasses or anything else, other than what it says in the specification? Panasonic aren't going to change that. The Dealer might have thrown something in, but there is no chance Panasonic would unless it was a special version.

thats fair comment, and am not overly bothered i was more than happy with the tv :) plus i got a good overall deal.

anyway i would like to further pick everyone's brains and ask another question related to the panny.
MY m8 has a samsung tv and that has a util on it call "allshare" which allows him to load and watch movies from his pc on his tv. he basically navigates to the folder on his tv screen and plays the movie or whatever he wants to view, this is all done over his wireless network, his pc must be on for him to do this.

can this be done with the panasonics?
lets say my pc is on in room c, and has a folder with various films on it that i have legally backed up, my tv is downstairs in room a and i would like to watch a film from the pc by remote streaming...........is this possible and if so could i have an idiots guide please.

many thanks

Whats size ?

Blurays are done by periods, and as its the ned of year the budget is pretty much gone.

As far as I know all you have to do is put the files into folders and add the folders to the Windows Media Player Libraries (open Windows Media Player selecet Video and right click to add another folder to the library) or use a program called Mezzmo (expensive but much easier to use IMHO)
