Parent and Child spaces

I park in these, i just think i spend my money in the shop just like anybody else... Dont see why parents need special bays... nobody has ever said anything to me
I would like to say i never park in disabled space's

Oh Oh, who opened the can of worms :P

Do you never intend to procreate Fox? We'll see your opinion when you do have children.

If he does, lets hope they don't join the forum, the post counts would be insurmountable, god help OcUK's Bandwidth.

;)

I always park in parent of child, as close to the entrance as physically possible.

If they are all full up then I will park up in the set down point.

No justifying it, I am just a **** ;)

I use them all the time, but would never park in disabled bays.

Ok thats a lie, there are 3 disabled bays next to some cash machines in the village i live in, and will use them for all of 30 seconds. Not right, but meh.

Having children is not a disability and car parks are not that big.

I treat shopping like I treat business meetings or covert missions in PC game. I want to be in and out as quickly as possible, obtain and secure all predefined targets without obstruction or delay and leave. Anything that can convince others to treat shopping as shopping, rather than family meeting venue or retarded pushchair olympics, I encourage and applaud. Please do park in M&C spaces, it's time to push all those shopping centre PR people coming up with stupid parking exercises back where they belong - restocking shelves.

You're a ***** **** and all! :p

That is most definitely illegal.

Really? Didn't think it was legally enforceable due to not being council done etc. please tell me otherwise.

For the record, I only park there when I have kids in the car, and sod signing up to their P&C scheme that requires you to put a badge in the window to show you're allowed.

[TW]Fox in wild exaggeration shocker.

Regarding P&C parking spaces, I don't think non-parents should be expected to respect them when many parents don't observe them themselves.

Many a time have I witnessed cars with child seats park in a P&C bay, for one or two adults to get out with no sign of a child. But hey they've got a child seat so it's ok.

Until legislation is passed or carparks start enforcing it, I won't feel bad parking there, as I can bet that every person frowning at me has done the same at one point in their parking lives.

I will park in them if there are plenty, silly to have a full carpark with people parked miles away and loads of empty disabled spaces at the front.

Unless there is a rush of crippled shoppers in the next 20 mins I am doing no harm.

Trust me some car seats are a nightmare to belt in, my niece has a seat that needs to fastend in and I end up with my legs dangling out of the door, you need the door to be almost fully open to access.

got to say having read part of the thread some of the attitudes in here are simply shocking. if you cannot simply comprehend why a parent and child space is there is a disgrace.

I used to argue that there should not be parent and child spaces but now having 2 young children they are a godsend simply because the extra space they have allow means we can get our children into the car easier and also means there is less chance of clipping the moron next to you who parks an inch inside his space, because he can. The fact that the extra space means we can use both rear doors when getting the children in and out of the space is a great help.

In my view those without children who park in these spaces should be clamped just the same as those who use disabled bays without badges.

Fine but until they are, stop crying about it :p.

It's not that people cannot comprehend why the spaces are there, is it. It's that people don't want to obey something that disadvantages them, unless they are forced to. It's human nature and most humans are inherently selfish to some degree.

In a perfect world, legislation would not be required. The world is not perfect.

I wouldn't even try to explain myself anymore, after all, ignorance will never be cured so you might as well talk to a brick wall. Yes, it astounds me too, but why should it bother them when they can save themselves walking 15 metres to the shop entrance, maybe one day they will learn when some kid gets out of the car, thomas toy in hand and accidently scrapes along the neighbouring car, which no doubt (hopefully) will be one of the ignorant, selfish, self centred persons who have no consideration for other people who have to park in a (non p+c) place where there may be a space next to them so that they can open their door enough to remove their child from the seat and hope for the best that when they return to their car that nobody has parked next to them so that again, they can open their door enough without risking damage to the neighbouring car, especially on those blustery days wher you have both hands on your child seatbelt when suddenly, the wind catches your door, blows it wide open and scratches / dents the neighbouring car - who, by the way, had the decency to park in the convenient manner as to allow P+C places to be used in their correct manner.

Honestly, i will laugh my arse off so much when someone comes on here and says their car was damaged because they parked out of convenience. serves yourself right ;)

You sound like such a nice bloke sometimes. I don't (thankfully) believe that 'most' people are as selfish as you, or there would be a lot more people parking in those spots, ie. 'most' people. It's the exception not the norm, at least round here.
