Today I got home to find that I have had a parking fine from over staying my free time at my local ASDA store.

I freely admit that I parked there to take my little girl to the swimming pool just across the road with the view to visiting the ASDA store for some lunch and shopping shortly after swimming. I spent a total of 2 hours and 17mins in the carpark with my car this is of course 17mins over the limit.

Now I know I am probably in the wrong and that I shoud just bite the bullet and pay the fine but I suppose I`m just annoyed that it was only 17 mins over and its not like I parked there all day. I know loads of people that park there to use the swimming pool becuase the swimming pool carpark is a Pay and Display carpark and its always empty.

Incidently the letter isnt actually addressed to either myself (the driver of the car) or my wife (the owner of the car) but we do own the car and the address is correct.

Does anyone have any advice on this?

Bite the bullet and pay the fine.
If you don't the fine will only get bigger over time as TCP are not cowboys when it comes to carparks.
Pay it & move on.
I got a £600 fine for driving with no TAX on the way to TAX the car as I could not do it online or at my home town post office as it needed to be re classed.
When I got the fine in the post the time that I was seen was 10 mins before I TAXed the car but I did not have a leg to stand on as I was driving with no TAX at the time.
I was mad but that's life.

Bin it - no need to pay it.

As above, 100% unenforceable, it is an invoice nothing more and it is for the driver at the time. They can only find out who the registered keeper is and the registered keeper is under no legal obligation to name who was driving at the time.

Bin it, ignore any correspondence from them no matter how threatening they get. They soon give up.

Your fine for tax has NOTHING to do with a parking fine, this parking fine is not enforceable, throw it in the bin, forget about it.

PS, walk to the post office next time :)

yeah but it wasn't TCP who fined you for no tax, oh no TCP will just write 5 or 6 times telling you the fine will get bigger so what, they can't do ****

basic rules for so called parking fines:

NCP, TCP, other cowboys = no need to pay or even talk to them, bin it!

council/Police = Pay up

If he felt he was unfairly given the ticket then I'd agree that he should throw it. I do feel he should pay for the ticket however considering he knows he went over the limit.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably just pay it since its only £30 now and if it does go to court I dont really have a good case since I wasnt even in the store shopping or anything I was in the swimming pool so I think I`ll just pay it and learn from the experience. I would love to fight it if I had a good enough reason to but dont fancy going to court and losing if it got that far.

What utter rubbish  Only a Council traffic warden or Police officer can issue a legal parking ticket. If its from bobs parking company etc then it is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Save your £30 mate. They can't do a thing to you. I have had lots of tickets from private parking companies and i have never paid one of them.

Who can they take to court if they don't know who is driving?
