Parking Ticket - Bin It?

Loser

OP, I've had about 20 of these. Never reply and I get no further mail from them.

You will get about 4 letters each getting scarier than the last. Look at the wording, lots of If's and possibilities.

I'm inclined to ignore for the moment. I know someone that parks in the same place and he has had two tickets. He hasn't heard anything for over 2 months now. He got the tickets well over 6 months ago...

Thanks for all you opinions so far people.

You forgot to pay to park so pay the fine.

Some of these companies now will chase the registered keeper so just pay it an take it on the chin.

Only the Council/Feds/Judge can fine you, its an invoice, just pay the amount you would have paid in the 1st place, with a cheque, if they cash it, all is good.

So you parked there knowing you had to pay, didn't pay and now you have a ticket. Pay it you scumbag, your mistake.

Scumbag? For making an honest mistake? Considering I've paid every other day of the year so far? Bit harsh.

As I said, if the 'fine' wasn't so extortionate, I might pay it. £50 takes the biscuit. Also, I did pay the parking once I realised that I'd been given a ticket. So it's not as if they're at a loss at all.

If anything, the OP will now be annoyed at how the business treat a loyal customer when one day they make an honest mistake and will take his business elsewhere. They'll never get his couple of quid each day any more, and after a while they will have lost out by more than they hoped to gain by the stupid ticket.

No I have had one of these nearly 2 years ago and ignored it, however the laws have changed.

The advice on money saving expert is now to apeal the case. However you were parked in a pay and display zone not simply in an asda car park. So im not sure what your appeal could be? (To op).

If the car park is on private land then you can bin the ticket and not worry about the nasty letters as it costs the company who run the car park more to recover the cost of the ticket then its worth (court costs etc) But if its council land or the ticket was issued by a pco or the police then its best to pay it as they come after you and the £60 ticket can become £800 in a matter of months

One of my appeals for a PCN involved me flat out suggesting the council had clearly invented teleportation technology. Obviously I got away with my ticket :D

BTW... if in any doubt, I'd be advised to pay it, and still appeal it. It would help if you have kept a lot of your prior tickets as evidence to back up your claim you park there frequently. Although, they will also provide you evidence if you have to put in your license plate every day, as I'd imagine they have to back that data up.

How come the fine is so much?
I thought all PCN are £35 if you pay early and £70 if you don't or is that because where I live people are too poor to pay anymore?

If it's a ticket genuinely issued under a railway byelaw it's every bit as enforceable as a council or police ticket. If it's a private ticket trying to make you think it's issued under railway byelaw it's no different to any other private ticket. I don't know exactly what you need to look for to establish that.

Hi guys,

I stupidly forgot to pay my parking.

Do I bin it? Do I pay it? Is it worth appealing?

El.

So you forgot to pay for a ticket.........appeal and if they won't budge then pay up. You didn't have a valid ticket to park there so pay the penalty - simple !
I understand your not happy and that's understandable but you made the mistake so pay.
