Hi,

I had a 250GB Seagate 7200.10 divided into two equal partitions, I've just deleted one of these partitions using diskmgmr.msc under Vista 32, and was wondering how I extend the other partition back to its original size without converting it to a dynamic disk (whatever one of those is!). Any help much appreciated :)

Simple answer - you cant.

You will need a third party tool to increase the size of the paritition. Tools like Partition Magic, Acronis Disk Drivertor are all good. I use Acronis personally.

With Vista you should be able to extend the remaining partion if the free space is to the right on the bar chart in Disk Management. If the space is to the left then you'll need to use one of the above tools.

im not sure if vista still contains diskpart; but this is a MS command line app, which I've used to extend partitions on my 2003 box.

Oh well, looks like I'm stuck then! Not too much of an issue as I'm reformatting soon, its just irritating that I lost half a drive LOL. Thanks anyways...

In all honesty you are better using and keeping two partitions, one for the OS and one for Data. If anyone ever asks me for one piece of advice on computing then thats it.
