Hi,

I have currently got my system setup with 2 SSD's in a Raid 0 array, with a samsung 1TB for storage.

I am now looking to install linux alongside windows 7, dual booting both.

I would ideally like to get Ubuntu installed on the SSD array. Unfortunately when I get to that section in the setup of Ubuntu, it want's to erase the whole disk. Would it be possible to partition a section of the array without causing problems to my windows 7 installation?

Any help would be great, cheers.

you will need to shrink your current partition and create a second one.

I tried that, but it's only allowing me to shrink it by 686MB, I have over 20GB free, so not related to not having enough space.

Was thinking of using a third party partition manager like Acronis, I'm a little concerned though it will mess up my Windows 7 installation.

I haven't used Acronis but I normally create the partitions before I install the OS's. If you end up doing this make sure you install Windows before Linux as it can cause problems. Windows doesn't like to share a drive with other operating systems.

That's the problem. I already have Windows 7 installed. I don't want to reformat or delete it. I just want to know if I can partition a raid 0 stripe and install ubuntu onto that said partition.
