Partitioning

If I were to partition a 640gb wd hdd into two partitions (50gb + rest of the hdd) and install one os on each partition, would this be ok to run? or am i safer just to use two seperate hdds?

I would make 2 partitions for the OS's, then a third for storage/data. It should be fine though.
