If the date is not absolutely irreplaceable and you do not have anywhere to copy the entire contents of the drive to you could as an absolute minimum copy the data out of the partition you wish to remove.
Then delete that partition and expand the other to fit the full drive using something like Acronis Disk Director Suite.
This is what I do and 90% of the time everything is fine. Which is why I say don't do it if you have anything implacable on there.
If you have enough space move the data from the partition you wish to lose to the partition you want to keep ( you may have to increase the one you wish to keep slightly using space from the other to achieve this) then delete the partition and expand the other using the now un used space.
The safest way of all is to move the data to a external source first then adjust your partitions.
