Party support, why should it be for life?

Only when people continue with this attitude. This election more than any put into perspective IMO how much we need a strong Lib Dem party in this country but sadly even with the lesson basically slapping people in the face few will heed it.
This is a really good question, I voted Blair then I voted Cameron. We could use a good centrist party. Sometimes Labour was there, sometimes it was the conservatives. Today it seems like neither. One is a bit too far left for my liking, the other a bit too far right.

This is exactly why we have so many issues, you are the problem in my eyes. Constantly take take with the attitude that everyone has the same opportunity as everyone else with the same ability.
Take grammar schools...nothing more than a long term method of introducing more Tory voters, pick the best talented (read parents with money some money) and let the rest wallow in less funded overcrowded system which only the natural talented can escape from. Not everyone can be a Engineer/Doctor/Lawyer etc which is what all Conservatism is about. Get on top and screw everyone else no matter the cost to anyone else.
Conservatism makes the assumption its a level playing field it is not far from it and the lack of investment to these areas to make it level playing field just shows how broken and hateful they are.

)End of the day we have a society that sprawls across the spectrum almost equally - while the 2 main parties tend to alienate one lot or the other - what we need is for the two extremes to be forced to work together really rather than fighting each other. Obviously that is incredibly idealistic.
I am a liberal but after Clegg went with the Tory`s as his old boss Leon Britain (read Tory toad) advised him he destroyed everything the Lib Dems worked at for the previous 10-15 years. They are a party of yesterday and need to spend another 10-15 years building something up again. With a actual socialist opposition now instead of the champagne socialists (Blair/Mandelson where is your rhetoric now idiots ? ) We could a have lib dem party that takes the middle ground but not with a religious crank-job like Farron at the helm (same as May) and the usual me me me Tory toads on the right who just lie to wins.

We had a local independent candidate who it was impossible to actually work out what they actually stood for but better than a spoilt ballot.
I find a lot of common ground with Lib Dems but I can't support their stance towards defence even though I think its a token position to appeal more broadly and can't support the shambles they went into this election with.
Fair point, Farron is not a bad politician per/say just not the man to lead the lib dems into number 10. That being said he is stable and could possible be the stability they need for a few years.

I'm a Conservative voter but won't be supporting the Tories unless they do something huge to rebrand. They're doing a terrible job at present and May is the worst PM we've had for some time.

I have voted Labour and Conservative before, whichever is in the middle ground tends to get my vote.
I see a lot of die hard Labour stuff on Facebook and the like to the extent someone I know changed their profile photo to say 'no tories on my wall' or something like that. Not a good way to try and convince people from one side to another. Same for all the 'tories out' people protesting, very tribal like football supporters.

It'll never change sadly.
I've supported no party my entire life, I could probably only name 2 even if I had to chose.
When I told an ex work colleague that I hadn't voted, he asked why, I said because you can't trust anything any of them say, his reply was "just guess"
