Partygate! (No, not that one)

I'm not making any political statements, not commenting on illegality or not, just making a comparison between two images in the press.

It's not a comparison which can be made - they are completely different things. The stories about Boris were in the press were purely because what he was doing was illegal. You can't ignore that aspect of it and try to compare the stories as if they were both stories about parties.

Why don't you also include media reports about Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein at a party together? Completely ignore any other implications of that story and focus purely on what the party was like?

Which event are you talking about?

Presumably one of the many when his own government declared it illegal and fined members of the public for doing it, whislt Johnson made a mockery by carrying on as normal.

Presumably Finland like the UK curently does not have any LAWS against indoor gatherings with friends.

I don't see any issue with her [legally] letting her hair down once in a while, senior jobs come with a bunch of stress and the alternative could be her suffering burn out if she was just focused on work 20/7.

She's volunteered to take a drug test, presumably because either she's not taken anything dodgy, or if she has she knows it won't show up on a test, i.e. is a smart person. Smarter than someone who might say "there were no parties at Number 10" despite there being numerous witnesses and photos etc.

You could MAYBE make an argument that getting badly intoxicated at a party creates some sort of risk of her divulging information etc that she shouldn't be, but overall it looked to me like someone having fun at a party with some friends, there's nothing wrong with that and if helps her to relax ahead of more serious engagements in her day job then all the better.

I was looking at the way that she had been accused of taking drugs and people demanding a drugs test be taken. I also did not say that it was illegal for her to go out and party, merely looking at the comparison between the two types of 'partying'. Boris standing with pint in hand, and Sanna in full on party monster mode. I'm not making any political statements, not commenting on illegality or not, just making a comparison between two images in the press. Please don't make any more of it than that.
Uh, the point was Johnson broke his own Covid laws while people couldn't see their dying relatives, whereas Sanna is just having a night out when there are no such laws in place. I am struggling to understand how people can't see this.

I really shouldn't bother posting any thread on this forum - I had forgotten how quickly we get posts from those whose sole job seems to rant about the government... Hey Ho.
We're just responding to those whose sole job it is to defend our lawbreaking government.

Not forgetting our glorious lame duck PM who slipped his security detail after a NATO summit to get wrecked at his KGB buddy's bunga bunga party villa.

Totally fine...nothing to see here.

Not sure what the issue is here. She's a person having fun with her friends. How does it impact her ability to run her country?

Because of her position it makes her more vulnerable to being judged, but people should be able to have fun without being judged. She didn't take drugs so it's a bit of a non story.

Good on her for being human and having fun.

Looks like she dun goofed. Another video of her released getting a little close to some Finnish Chad musician.
Does seem to be a drip drip of embarrassing vids and photos now, photos of topless “influencers” in the official PMs house floating around as well now.

Maybe she can come and be our PM instead of Truss. Probably do a better job.

In all seriousness though, what she does in her time off the clock should be her own business unless it's illegal activity. She could be a BDSM dominatrix but it wouldn't necessarily impact her ability to be PM.

She's in her 30s and partying with her friends at a private event and in a club... don't really see it being a huge issue in general.

I think the only issue is that Finnish PMs & ministers are supposed to be on call or something and one of the events might have been when she was, there was also a previous incident where she went out without her phone/wasn't contactable or something IIRC.

I can't help but think this story, and another were 2 models are kissing on a table she uses to issue statements, is Russian propaganda to undermine Finland for joining NATO.

Anyone who knows Finnish women, knows they work hard and play hard. They can be very efficient. But also can party hard too, and drink most men under the table (err as in drink more alcohol than most men ;) ).
