Small update. More than anything we need to choose the acrylic colour for the accents and mid wall. I have taken a number of photos of the choices we like and have considered for the project. If I'm honest we do want to use acrylic here.. because we love acrylic!

If you read the thread please reply with the choice you like the most. The numbers are labeled here:

Hopefully with the above photos this will give you all enough to make an informed vote. I know what I would chose but I must say I was pulled towards a couple.
I will be going ahead with the winning vote Monday/Tuesday of next week so we can get these parts cut and the thing together.

In other news; Asus ROG have sent the board. Thanks guys. A shot of the thing (You've all seen the Impact by now) and a photo with bits removed:

Now to think about what we can do with these easy to remove bits :D

Hmm, well that's a tough call...

I'd have to pick 3. Slate Grey for the reason that I think it will make the 'rust' highlights on the metal panels 'pop' more, whereas the lighter colours may subdue them. Some of the colouring on the metal sections is fab.

Of course, I'm a complete design noob so take the above with that in mind ;)

5. personally I like the idea of the rusted metal being the only darker out case component.

as "Luggs" gave a idea, I think if done right, on the side with the cables laminate both sides of the frosted glass then smash it / crack it, like a gun shot through glass if you know what I mean, and the laminate will hold it together. where the side with the components is of course lovely no scratched acrylic

I was going to say 2 until I read that it was glossy metallic and changed my mind to 3, but I think you should take some sandpaper to it and rough it up a bit.

How would Asus feel about seeing their heatsinks dirtied a bit? Sandpaper them a bit and leave a damp tea bag on them to stain them (the only reason I know this can work is because I've seen the effects of a colleague spilling a cup of tea into his open case).

Definitely got to be 3, all of the other stuff is too clean looking although the light silver makes a nice contrast. Nice motherboard ;)

Is that another sample on the left? I like it.

Thanks for all the voting thus far everyone. I will compile results from all 3 forums and let you know the answers. I will also post the most interesting reasons behind the winning votes.

Oddly black slate and frosted clear are winning but the votes stacked very highly from 1 forum to another. Guess forum users have similar taste :D

Results:

  1. Light Silver - 6
  2. Silver - 2
  3. Slate Grey - 21
  4. White - 6
  5. Clear - 23

So with that I will cut and try to post photos of the case built with the frosted clear tomorrow. If for whatever reason we at Parvum and you guys think it doesn't look great we will cut the Slate Grey and compare. It makes sense because votes our quiet close.
