Awesome to think that a laptop is within ~10% of a desktop these days graphically speaking. Can't afford one myself but it's good to know for the future.

I've been looking at buying a laptop all summer and ive had my mind set on a Dell XPS 15 4k... Is it even worth it now with these coming out?

Not if you game no. There are going to be laods of gaming laptops with 1080 cards now. Nothing will come close old gen performance wise.

I never understand why people would spend so much money on a laptop .. just think what you could build with £4000

Portability. My pc prob cost around that but is 3 foot by 3 foot by a foot and weighs around 50kgs :)

Hardly mobile.

And one laptop ive been looking at has a very nice oled screen as well.

Plus the 4k one has dual 1080s so thats £1400 of the costs. Then a decent mobo, top end cpu, 64gb ram, psu etc.

You can easily see where £4k is spent and I am not sure your desktop version would be that much cheaper.

That is pretty incredible - that the 1080 notebook is as fast as the desktop part. I guess this is where the 10 series power and heat efficiency pays dividends.

Who carries a portable laptop worth over £4000 around with them:confused:

Do they play it on the train?

Again, do you really have to ask why someone would buy a laptop over a PC?

I've used my 2k laptop on the train, though only in first class where it's rather safe. I'd expect someone buying a 4k laptop would have the funds to travel first class on a train also.........

Ever heard of a business trip, where you stay at a hotel room? Do I need to list more examples or can you get your brain into gear and workout for yourself why someone would buy a laptop?.........

Saw these on linus and wondered how much they would end up costing,
considering a relatively weak laptop have traditionally been 1.5K+

Looks like no price increase over previous high end laptops though, keeping the price under 3K total, not bad !

One of these would probably get more framerate than my 'enthusiast' system ( 5820K, Fury X )

For all those asking why buy a laptop, just have a look at your mobile phone and ask yourself why did I buy this when I've got a landline at home.;)

I was originally going to wait for the 1060 laptops to arrive. A 960m laptop could be had for around £800/£900. However I decided to build a desktop instead and looking at these prices, I'm glad I did.
