Pascal vs Maxwell **same clocks**

I wish AMD would get their arse into gear and release something proper, to give Nv an excuse to actually TRY.
Nvidia aren't trying?

AMD introduced what they consider a big architectural jump with Polaris and hyped up their efficiency gains a whole lot, plus have the node shrink. And they are still well behind in terms of efficiency. You think Nvidia can achieve that sort of stride while being lazy about things?

Nobody in this sort of tech sector is ever sucking their thumbs, content with what they have. The name of the game is always to push, push, push. Even without competition, it is in their best interest to always be releasing bigger and better products. Because that's how you get people to want to replace their old tech with new tech.

.

And Nv just release Maxwell V2.0 like they've done, it's not even worth bothering with Pascal. AMD are miles behind.

Damn, when you look at it like that it looks really ****.

Tbh the 1060 isn't any better this gen has been a complete shambles yes the 1060 is a faster card than the 480 though again it's hardly any faster than an overclocked 970 at around 1450mhz+ the only thing it has going for it is the tdp which helps it a little

I don't get the love for the 480, it's a 970 that's got better dx12 performance for the same price and power consumption as the 970 two years ago.

Second hand 980Ti>*

pretty much this or a second hand 980 for around the same price clock it upto around 1500mhz and no 480 will touch it heck my 980 custom VBIOS done 1600 on the core which was insane! and roughly was only around 5-10% slower than my stock 980 Ti

if you have a top Maxwell card like a 980TI then I agree with you, no point buying a Pascal card. However, if you come from a 970, like I did, getting a Pascal card makes a lot of sense :)

indeed, funny thing is I was actually considering getting an AMD card this time around, especially when I saw the price of 1080 cards.

Everyone said, just wait for 480 it will be amazing. It came out and it's basically my old 970. No thanks, decision made easy, 1080 it was.
