Nice one mate, I'm looking at doing the PRMC around June but I've many hurdles to clear before then. I suffered from shin splints which set me back 8 weeks so my running has suffered horribly.

Your pre-PRMC routine seems pretty close to the one in the booklet from the AFCO which is what I'm trying to follow, glad to hear it works. :)

yea it was the one from the green booklet just increased because i had been doing it no problems for a week or two. now i will be getting put up a lot more because i know my max limits are a lot higher than i thaught

Big up to you, I was a recruit in the RMR (Royal Marines Reserve) and on my stint at CTC the 2 things that stick in my mind is the Bottom Field and the Endurance Course. In all I spent about 2 years as a nod having got almost to the end of training, but I guess it just ground me down and I lost all motivation to train and as such I dropped out. I will try it again in a couple of years when I'm done uni though, but for the meantime its all a memory. The training is an absolute blast, the first stages of it is a nightmare though, the whole learning to iron, wash and shave from the beginning is a drag, but once you get onto field exercises it is fantastic, nothing like a Section Attack complete with the goodies, really gets the adrenaline going. :D

awww shame when ppl drop near the end of training, was a lad on our course goto to week22 of training and dropped few months later he signed back up and has to do it all again, major bummer

hehe yea still get called nods manily one the mornings "NOD!! GET THE WETS ON" i had a right laugh down their, had the same cpl as before so we were having a good giggle

just godda keep that green lid as your motivation to keep going i got a good effort from the pti wich i was very pleased with for keeping going on the bottom field with bad blisters all i had in my mind was a green lid, sounds silly but a green lid means a hell of a lot to me

Well done and I hope you make it all the way.

At over 30 weeks, the Royal Marines Commando course is the longest basic training course in the world and they are without doubt amongst the worlds elite.

I know a couple of lads in my job who are ex Commandos and I have to admire what they went through to get that Green Beret.

Hats off and well done. I wish you well. :)

On a completely unrelated note, Von you need to do another "Sort your problems out" thread, abolsute comedy gold and I'm using the archived thread in my language investigation for A Level English Language :D .

off to bed now fellas, for a nice full nights sleep and a well deserved lie in lol will get some mug shots tomorrow for you to "eeewww" over hehe

Nasty blisters lad ;)

Congratulations, I know how pressurising the PRMC experience is and youv'e done well. I'm waiting for my date as we speak.

If you know how Wikipedia works, would you fancy helping me setup one? There are a few pages that need updating or correcting possibly :)

Once again, congrats :D

Just been accepted as an aircraft technician for the RAF, the basic training looks like playtime compared to what you will have to go through!
All the best mate

Congratulations...I know a couple of booties myself, and one from 29 Cdo (Artillery). All very focused and motivated people. Hope it all works out for you.

My best mate has got two weeks left in his Royal Marine training, he's just got all the Commando tests left to do (including the 30 mile yomp with 30lbs on your back :/ ). When he did the PRMC he got the 'best recruit' award or something

I'm not tough enough for that myself, thats why I'm hoping to join the RAF as an Officer :D

Good work mate

You should certainly have the physical fitness to get through it, it's the mental side that can be just as tough but you seem to have the right attitude.

We had it just as stressful although admitedly in much different ways, we did some tough physical training but nowhere near those levels. (Ex Pilot)

ahh thanx octacon

anyone thinking of joining up? :)
I am. And those blisters don't but me off at all.

Stupid cold has stopped my from doing most of my training for now, but it's nearly passed. Excellent.

Good work mate. :D

Hope I'll pass mine! How long did it take from your interview to getting put on the course?

EDIT: How do you do:

Box jumps? Knees to chest? and Lunges? I never got those..

Bah EDIT 2: When you did sit-ups, did you secure your feet under something or not?

dont let the cold put you off, i run a lot faster in the cold because i dont overheat anywhere near as much and the air is more compressed only small differences but it all helps

box jumps

lunges

knees to chest are

lie flat on your back, hands palms down by your side, raise your legs 2" off the floor keeping them straight then bring your knees to your chest then back straight 2" off the floor again.

interview to my first prmc was feb>september same year but i cooked myself on that one second prmc was jan 24th

Awesome, thanks.
Know when you'll be starting your proper training?

Also: I'll be going straight from 6th form (near enough) do you think I'll be at a disadvantage for lack of life experience?
