Thoroughly pleased with myself.

Just passed my first test with only two minors.

A few questions:

Pass Plus, worth it or not?

Is it at all possible to get insured for less than £1000 (I'm 17). All the quotes I have looked at online have been £1400+.

Yup - with the right insurer it will drop your insurance by about 20%

With pass Plus its possible, but without - unlikley!

Well done on passing.

As said above, Pass Plus is well worth it, I did it and dropped my insurance by nearly 50% from what it could have been. - Norwich Union, don't know if they still do such a large drop.

Yeah, if you are going on your own insurance, for the first 3-4 years passplus will make quite the difference!

Passplus makes a difference with some insurers, with my current ones it doesnt and ive been driving a year, did it at renewal time just because it made a difference to most of my quotes, as it turns out the cheapest insurer didnt take it into account but not a big loss! :)

I paid £120 for mine two and a half years ago, and saved about £500. Was well happy. :)

Best thing to do really is to find out how much it costs, and phone insurance companies and get quotes from them to find out how much you can save.

well done, i passed on wednesday :) but with 6 minors! im going to do the pass plus in the summer for both the insurance discount and motorway experience.

Congrats. I did my pass plus last year I passed in early August and did my pass plus at the end of the month. It usually costs less than you will save for example, about £140 for the course and u will normally save about £200 depending on you quote.

It was a bit boring, but I found the motorway training to be very beneficial! Like joining and lane changes etc etc. Also its good to have the qualification, if you have a crash with another motorist and you have advanced training and they dont it could sway the odds in your favour.

Imo do it, and then its done and u might even make a few notes from it :)

I'm pretty sure the goverment at the moment are doing a scheme where they pay half and you pay half to take the Pass Plus.

I heard about this in Febuary so might still be going? :)

Enter your detilas once and then it will do the trawling. Whatevers cheapest on there is pretty much what you're going to get the insurance for.

You can also change the option to have pass plus included and then excluded to give you a good idea of how much off you will get.

Well done :)

Pass Plus cost ~£150 when I did it, and saved £200 off the insurance. AFAIK it only lasts one year. Well worth doing for the experience, even if it doesn't save you anything.

Not what I have found. Confused said I wouldn't get below £1k on the Focus, got it for £750 in the end by looking round myself.

IMO Pass Plus isn't worth it for the experience at all. It's nothing more than you could experience for yourself in a few weeks casual driving. However, if there's a financial benefit to doing it, go ahead. I saved £1000 by taking a £100 course, so I did it without thinking twice :p

Congrats mate, only 2 minors as well. How many lessons did you have?.

Try Quinn direct with pass plus and without, for me it came out £200 less with pass plus so depending on how many 1 hour lessons it'll take you it could be well worth it.

Snap mate. Well done. What were they for? Mine were not looking enough when bay parking, and slowing down before indicating to stop at a safe and convenient location..
Passed 2months ago and still haven't got a car sorted out.. should be getting one in a couple of weeks hopefully :)
