Path of Exile 2

I'm giving this a whirl despite never really clicking with the first PoE (despite many attempts over several years). It seems to have a bit of a slower pace to it than Diablo IV, which is no bad thing for me personally.

It also makes me realise though how accustomed I've grown to games that boil down to picking the right cookie-cooker character build when I'm given such a large blank canvas to build a character and I start feeling anxious over making the "wrong" choice! :cry:

If your not sure try maxroll or mobalytics for some build ideas either to use as is or a base to build your own.
 
A difference between POE2 and D4 is that in POE2 you can quite easily if not outright break your character, you can certainly bend it into something that just doesn't work. That's quite hard to do in D4 as it is more forgiving. That approach will appeal to some but not others, which is why the reliance on maxroll et al is so prevalent.

New Class - Huntress
Mount that you can fight from
5 new Ascendency - the 2 for the Huntress but also Blacksmith for Warrior, Tactician for Mercenary and Lich for the Witch
Over 100 new Gems
Over 100 new Uniques
Runes now have 3 tiers to them
Azmerian Wisps, which are spirits which you encounter in areas and they run about possessing creatures and upgrading them, can even turn elite creatures into bosses, if you manage to kill it you get a bunch of goodies (more of the possessed you kill the more goodies)
New endgame maps
Enemy AI "players", with access to player character skills and gear who will "invade" you, sort of like AI PvP
Unique strongboxes that can summon and resummon in waves, all manner of cool shiz
Endgame map corruption and cleansed maps, changes to Towers and tablets to improve endgame
Reliquary keys
Recombination (merging two similar items to hopefully create 1 better version)

The patch notes will be a long read :D

Glad they aren't adding a league, don't want to let go of my warrior just yet although the new ascension sounds interesting so might have to try that out.

Being able to tame beasts and then use them as a companion as the huntress sounds pretty cool too.

Can’t wait for the patch notes. Devs said the game will be almost unrecognisable compared to league 1, so all kinds of **** has been nerfed / changed.
 
Hopefully it's more engaging. I tried a couple of different builds in league 1 and that didn't last very long.

I think I’ve put less than 100 hours in so far, may even be around 50.

All a bit meh, imo. Only one new class, no new campaign acts ( still going to have to do acts 1 through 3 twice ). They haven't properly addressed crafting which remains a gambling / RNG slot machine. As such, trading will continue to be the optimal path forward ( outwith the game and using real money ). Glad they're making changes to character defenses but I'll wait and see how balanced the update is in this regard ; it could be disastrous if they don't buff armour and evasion enough to compensate for the alleged heavy nerf to energy shield. Also, increasing stuns and ailment effects on players is going to suck big time - they are already frustrating particularly in the late game.

Overall, think I may sit out this update and watch from the sidelines. Will have a proper look when they add more campaign acts, more weapon types ie. swords/axes and classes. Or might just wait until 1.0, which at this rate looks like it'll be 2027 at the earliest.

I do wish it had been Druid or Templar rather than Huntress though, last thing I need is more people annoying me with more minions !

(Pleeeeeeeease, will someone in this genre make it so that other players minions are invisible to me, I dont need to see them ! :D)

Shush ! You love minions really ;)

Seriously though, I can understand the annoyance caused by minions cluttering your screen in town / player hubs. But don't think it would be feasible with players you're actively grouped with.

I mean it should be fine, I dont need to see their minions, its of no use to me to see 20 skeletons on my screen and as a warrior they just get in the way and obscure what it is I am trying to click on to melee. Just give me a game with a Hide other players minions toggle :)
