I was holding on for months to buy a HD 7850...

with the ridiculous overpricing and pathetic 7770 performance I think I'll wait on an nVidia new gen card...

what have they been doing for the past 2 years?

their GPU's are following the same path as their bulldozer...

all hype and a complete disappointment!

even the 7970 should have been a lot better

:p

The only real dissapointing thing about the 7970/50 the 7970 should have been 7950 prices and about 25-30% faster than it is and the 7950 should have been 7970 performance and about £80-100 cheaper. I wouldn't call it pathetic just a little underwhelming.

Whats 7770 performance got to do with the 7850?

I'm confused?

But for multi screen use the 7970 runs 100% better in my OP, over the 6000 cards.. still i agree the fps should be better for the new gen cards but i do think drivers are still crap.

What, you were expecting them to have a little heart and offer all of their brand new cards at a significant discount to you? Get a grip.

Yea, the HD 7770 performance isn't too amazing compared to the HD 6850 and the pricing is a bit mad at the moment (since it should be a card that replaces the 6770, not the 6850) but I wouldn't draw conclusions that the 7850 will be a flop.

Please bear in mind that the 7850 will have twice as many stream processors as the 7770 and twice the memory bus width. So depending on clockspeeds the 7850 will be almost twice the card the 7770 is.

I do hope you were not born in 1974 as that would make you around 37. A 37 year old still trolling a gpu section on an internet forum?

I just turned 40 and I Agree with the OP ... blah release by AMD; but perhaps its because there is no competition ... for once I am anxious for a nvda product.

I also would have expected prices to be a bit lower; phase out the old stuff ... at these prices the old stuff is still selling and has reason too.

You trollin?

7770 was the 5770/6770 replacement and beats those by 19% on performance, let alone the power saving, and also beats the 6850 in SOME benchmarks/games due to better tessellation.

Also, at £115 each, crossfire the 7770's for £230 and get 7950 rivalling performance.

He's obviously more dissapointed with it than you are. 25-30% faster for £80-100 cheaper, you say? Yep, pathetic seems valid enough to me.

Keep telling that to yourself...cause I think most people is already ignoring you with you constant Nvidia trashing and AMD butt kissing.

If 7770 was suppose to be 6770 replacement, and 7950 was supposed to be 6950 replacement...then there's no arguing there's progression on performance. But with these so called "replacements" priced at the price level of cards at at least 1 teir up/50% higher in price, people would have to be really thick to honestly believe they are suppose to be replacement for those counterparts, and blindly following AMD's naming approach.

Lol, and I care much about your aggression?

AMD must be thick then as the 7770 is the replacement for the 5770/6770.
You can't compare launch prices with prices over 1 year later, compare the 7770 launch prices with the release price of the 5770

Cheapest 5770 was £119.99, more expensive than the 7770 was at release.

I agree with this.

AMD failed hard the last few months. The 7770 should have been £90 max since the 6770 can be had for £70 to £80

Only AMD fanboys can put a positive spin on this

You have to compare launch prices and has nothing to do with AMD as that goes for pretty much everything.

If the new products were always priced at the tail end and EOL of the price depreciated product before then everything would be free given enough time.

Lol, this forums full of wannabee Alan Sugars who think they can make better business decisions than multinationals ;)
And I think consumers...for example Apple customers care more about where/how to get their iproducts cheapest than how much money Apply make annually. Reality check much?

Bottomline is...if we are not shareholders...why should we care? Their business decisions is to grab as much money as they can from us...and you are telling us to open our wallet and show it to AMD and say "tell as much as you like" to them? lmao

Will Nvidia be the knight in shining (bargain basement) armour? From track record you could argue that NV will probably be cheaper at all price points, by an unknown amount and be faster by an unknown amount in some titles at some time, soonish
