I backed it at Kickstarter stage and it was released yesterday. I only managed to get an hour under my belt but I'm very pleased that I did - and impressed with it so far. It had the feel of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, with updated graphics and, obviously, very much Pathfinder based - so no shortage of spells, classes, races, etc...

Anyone else got this yet?

I've been watching it and would defo have bought but I have too many games on the go atm.

I'll hold off for now and maybe grab it next month (maybe). I believe it supports ultrawide out of the box so that's a good news.

I've been playing it for a few hours so far, and it comes across as pretty good. Visually it doesn't look as good as recent games in the genre like Pillars of Eternity 2, but the mechanics of Pathfinder ruleset feels so much better to play. It will be very familiar to people who played Neverwinter Nights and especially Neverwinter Nights 2, which was 3.5 edition D&D which is similar to Pathfinder.

That's like early level baldur gate back in the day. Miss, miss, miss, miss, miss, miss... FOR **** ARE YOU RETARDED HES STANDING RIGHT IN FROMT OF YOU GOD SAKE.... miss, miss, miss, miss *begins crying I'm frustration*

You spend a long time at level 1-3 and it is tough. Once you get to level 4, and you get some HP stacked, reasonable AC from items and some spell abilities it becomes easier.

With games like NWN1 and NWN2 you were always level 4 ish after an hour or so so it was easier starting out.

anyone else finding it pretty brutal? im playing on normal and the miss rate and damage taken is pretty nutty
Totally. I think I'm going to push a lot more towards things like Bless, and the various little buffs characters have. When you're running the entire group, you tend to just forget about the stuff that you might do at the table.

Just don't get me started on spider swarms! I'm not going back to that damn cave until I have fireball! And as for Tuskgutter..... !!!

You need anger management :D

I was really lucky with Tuskgutter. The barbarian companion I had go into Rage and she critted the thing with the first blow dealing massive damage.

Going to be honest with you, never heard of the game but I absolutely loved the Neverwinter Nights so will be keeping an eye on this. Does it have it an good engaging story?

The story so far is very BG1 like. In the sense that it involves you being part of something "down to earth" to begin with, and it develops with intrigue. From what I have seen so far it does not involve trifling with Gods, World Disasters and such which is common with these types of games recently.

I'm only so far through though (15-17 hours and level 5), so will need to wait and see what else it has in store.

Steam just downloaded a 1.3GB patch.

I finished my first run through of Bard's Tale IV yesterday and started a play through of this. As I expected it is brutal at starting levels and some enemies come far to early (bear-like treant anyone?? If that was our DM they wouldn't be the DM anymore ;)) and random road encounters can be OPed as well. Aside from that I'm finding it enjoyable and atmospheric, we know the Game mechanics are sound as D&D 3.75 is tried and tested (although I do much prefer the new Pathfinder Playtest 2 mechanics :p) but the devs have iced it nicely to make it a classic CRPG.

Will be interesting when I reach the Kingdom management stage to see how that fits in :)

so rerolled a new character last night and its better than what i was trying to play before so thats good! need to continue leveling and find some more companions!

if you have no aoe spells how do you kill spider swarms?

What's the writing like? That's what will swing it for me - I can still remember characters from BG2 in detail 20 years later, couldn't even tell you who my companions names are in Pillars of Eternity.

So I'm starting to notice more than the odd bug with this, things like quests not firing when they should, items on maps that should be active not being so etc. and I'm still not sure about the Kingdom management, something about it just doesn't sit right with the game itself. I am generally enjoying the experience though and my Ranger, with a few levels under his belt and equipped with better gear is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

I have crashed a couple times, but otherwise not encountered any massive bugs.

Game-wise, I'm still really enjoying it. I'm only level 5, and busy with both running my barony and adventuring in my frontiers and beyond. Running into Large Earth Elementals was a lesson for me. The lesson being, don't go back over that side of the woods for many levels! I DM'd Kingmaker a few years back, and this is a really fun conversion and I can see things I remember from running it (we only did 1.5 books worth, out of 6). I'm looking forward to getting home for some more!

Good to see another fan of the PF2 Playtest on the boards :D

Am guessing that the more encumbered you are, the quicker you become fatigued? Am finding it quite annoying.

I seem to have 2 Amiris in my party on the selection screen but only 1 appears. Sometimes she disappears completely.
Got some merchant issues too when I trade. Doesn't transfer until I click sell.

Despite this, I'm enjoying it. Level 5 Rogue at the moment with some decent items.

I equip a torch or use the Burning Hands spell.
